The Institute for Strategic Studies National Defense University of the Peoples Liberation Army
The Institute for Strategic Studies (ISS) at the National Defense University of the Peoples Liberation Army (NDU, PLA), China was established in 1985. The central mission of the ISS is to undertake research and instruction in international relations, national security strategy and national defense strategy, and to provide strategic consultation services. The ISS conducts course instruction for the College of National Defense Security, the College of Joint Command and Staff, the College of Further Education, the Postgraduate School and the College of Defense Studies at the NDU, PLA, enrolling masters and PhD students. The ISS often holds academic conferences independently or jointly, covering such topics as the international strategic situation, regional security situation, international military situation and future warfare, terrorism and national security, international security cooperation, and adjustments of national security strategy. The ISS has established extensive academic ties and exchanges with many foreign academic institutions, serving as an important window of the PLAs foreign academic exchanges.
