Prakash Adhikari teaches political science at Central Michigan University. His research lies at the intersection of comparative and international politics, focusing particularly on armed conflict, forced migration, and transitional justice, with a regional focus on South Asia. He has done extensive fieldwork in Nepal funded by the National Science Foundation. He has published in International Studies Quarterly and Journal of Conflict Resolution and presented his research at various national and international conferences.
Neil DeVotta is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Wake Forest University. Jason Kirk is Associate Professor of Political Science at Elon University in North Carolina. He previously taught at Virginia Military Institute and the University of Pennsylvania. He is the author of India and the World Bank: The Politics of Aid and Influence (2011). His articles have appeared in India Review , Foreign Policy Analysis , and other journals. His research and teaching interests encompass Indias democratic politics, economic reforms, international relations, and role in global governance.
Mahendra Lawoti is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at Western Michigan University. He is a regular contributor for the Kathmandu Post and Kantipur dailies, an article editor for Sage Open , a board member of the Midwest Conference on Asian Affairs, and advisor to several non-profit organizations in Nepal and the United States. His research covers democratization, political institutions, ethnic politics, and socio-political mobilizations in Nepal and South Asia. He has authored, co-authored, edited, and co-edited 10 books and published numerous book chapters, opinion pieces, and journal articles in Asian Survey , Commonwealth and Comparative Politics , Democratization , Himalaya , and Journal of Democracy .
Anas Malik is Associate Professor of Political Science at Xavier University, Affiliated Faculty with the Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis at Indiana University since Spring 2012, and author of Political Survival in Pakistan (2011). His research interests are in political economy, political Islam, and development, and his current research project considers polycentric governance and political Islam with respect to constitutional challenges in Pakistan.
Ali Riaz is University Professor and Chair of the Department of Politics and Government at Illinois State University. He previously taught at universities in Bangladesh, England, and South Carolina. He also worked as a broadcast journalist at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) World Service in London. His research interests include Islamist politics, South Asian politics, community development, and political economy of media. He is the author of Faithful Education: Madrassahs in South Asia (2008); Islamist Militancy in Bangladesh: A Complex Web (2008); Unfolding State: The Transformation of Bangladesh (2005); and God Willing: The Politics of Islamism in Bangladesh (2004). His recently edited volumes are Religion and Politics in South Asia (2010) and Political Islam and Governance in Bangladesh (2010). He is the editor of biannual journal Studies on Asia and has also served as a consultant to various international organizations, including the UNDP, DFID, SSRC, and BTI.
