FROM JULY 2018 TO JUNE 2019, I served as Chief Economist of the White House Council of Economic Advisers (CEA). This was a sabbatical from what (so far) had been a twenty-five year career as a University of Chicago economics professor teaching especially public economics topics such as regulation, taxes, social insurance, and the behavior of government officials.
