CONTENTS
PREFACE
EARLY IN THE MORNING OF NOVEMBER 9 the news stations announced that Donald Trump was the president-elect.
Taking 306 electoral college votes to Clintons 232, Trump did what nearly every pundit, expert and pollster said was impossible: he won the US presidency.
Look at any election map and notice how red/Republican it is. Sweeping Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, and then quite unbelievably rust belt states, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, Trump scored a knockout.
He won a landslide result and took the White House away from both Barrack Obama and his chosen Democrat heiress, the villainous, Hilary Clinton. She was expected to be coroneted and all the media, and all the celebrities, and all the inside political class were ready for Hilary to reign. They even built a gigantic stage for her in the shape of these United States in a huge civic center with a glass ceiling to celebrate the anticipated result.
But it was not meant to be.
Trumps unprecedented, and for many unexpected victory, came as a total shock. There was no way he could ever get to 270 we were repeatedly told. The polls had him down and the electoral map was difficult to worse. He simply would not, could not, win.
But Donald Trump prevailed. He never deterred from his simple and profound message: To Make America Great Again. And he had a straight flushhe ran the table and won a decisive victory carrying the House, the Senate, and governorships, just about everywhere. It was astounding and unpredicted.
His victory was that large, that monumental. It signaled realignment in politics and was part of a wave of nationalist-populist inspired efforts around the globe from Brexit to America and back again to Europe and elsewhere.
How did he do it? Why did it happen?
There were only a very few of us who believed from the startwho saw it as he saw it. I was with him from the moment he descended down the escalator in his gilted Trump Tower in New York City over a year and a half ago. He did not waver and neither did his stalwart and loyal supporterswhich just grew and grew and mushroomed. They were evident in the large and excited rallies around the country he conducted and from all the media Trump collected. They grew through each decisive primary victorywhere one by onehe knocked off every single Republican challenger, most of whom were experienced politicians.
In the general election there were bleak days and new challenges to face but the underreported support grew and grew, especially in the key battleground states. Like an iceberg it was just under the surface. It was evidenced in the forgotten people who had both rage and hope, who were mad as hell and not going to take it anymore, while also plainly, wanting their country back.
Trump heard the will of the people and identified with them and was never fixed on the popular vote, realizing that the election demanded another kind of fixation. He tirelessly slugged through the three televised debates and traveled around all the key states so often he became well known. He spent less than his opponent and ran a most unconventional campaign.
He was after all a most unconventional candidate.
And the data shop secretly organized by his brilliant son-in-law supplied all the critical information to pinpoint the vote and micromanage the very directed effort. His astute communication director kept him on track and messaging while his vice presidential choice showed courage and humility in equal measure.
I have known Donald Trump for decades. He is an indefatigable person. He is strong and able. His Wharton financial education and years building a multi-billion dollar successful real-estate business make him a uniquely qualified person to actually run America: to be its CEO.
I have known him from building golf courses in Scotland and hotels around the world but also seen his true heart. I have given to his various philanthropic causes in Florida and New York, played in his charity golf tournaments, and watched as he literally gave back to a country and the society he dearly loves. I joined the campaign early and worked with the nascent National Policy Council and gave strategies and policy advice on a host of issues. I appeared regularly in print from Forbes to Breitbart to WND and elsewhere and on air as a surrogate on CNN, FOX, SKY, and BBC and on the radio.
This is what deeply motivates Donald Trump: love of country.
He is a patriot first and foremost and he wants our country to restate those lasting and trusted values that have carried us this far. He wants everyone to prosper. Some make him out to be a narcissist or a bully. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Donald Trump is an authentic leader and a doer who will fix America, defend America, and make it safe and prosperous. He puts America first and his policies will do the same.
This is the story of
