Good Trouble Good Trouble
It was a crisp September morning in Troy ,
Alabama . The sun had not yet risen to warm the
autumn air as John tiptoed to the chicken coop ,
schoolbooks clutched in his arms . He knelt to
stroke his favorite hen behind the head . Can you
keep a secret , Bitsy ? Im going to school today .
Mama and Daddy say they need me to stay and
help in the fields . But there is so much I need to
learn ! Ill be back before you know it .
This is a fictional retelling of a true story from John Lewis's life .
