Introduction
After a shooting at his high school , David Hogg found
himself answering questions from journalists about
gun issues in the United States before class every day .
D
avid Hogg stands beside his sister . They
are on a sidewalk next to their high
school . The area is usually filled with students .
But on this warm February morning in 2018 ,
the building is surrounded by reporters . One
of them hands David a microphone.
Do you have a message for lawmakers ?
she asks him .
The day before , David had been a normal
student attending class as he always did .
Then a gunman entered the school building .
He killed people and injured others .
Less than hours later , David answers the
reporters question and becomes the face of
gun reform in America .
Yes, the 17-year-old replies . Its time for
action . No more thoughts and prayers , no
more great ideas . David looks into the camera
with confidence . Were children . You guys are
adults . You need to take some action and play
a role . Work together . Get over your politics
and get something done. It was the first of
many TV appearances for David . It was also
the first step toward a life of activism .
reform : to change or improve something
activism : working to support change in society

We were like a tag team for
getting through life , Lauren says
in a book she and David wrote

help him sort it all .
According to his Twitter
