State Flag
The current state flag wasadopted in 1911. It is madeof three stripes. Two stripesare blue and one is white.The blue represents the sky,while the white representssnow-capped mountains.In the middle left of theflag there is a red, circularC with a golden circle atits center. The golden discsymbolizes the sun. Thered of the C matches thereddish ground of the state.
State Seal
Colorados seal is a circle that is 2.5 inches (6.4 centimeters)in diameter. At the top is the so-called eye of Godan eye ina triangle. The same symbol appears on the one-dollar bill.Under the eye is the Roman fascesan ax surrounded by abundle of sticks. The ax symbolizes power. The sticksrepresent the strength of unity. Beneath the fasces is a shieldwith cloud-topped mountains. There is also a mining pickand hammer. At the bottom is the Latin phrase nil sine numine.It means nothing without the Deity [God] or nothingwithout providence.
