In one of the first English-language studies of Grupo Prisa, this book delivers a comprehensive and concise approach to the political, economic and social-cultural profile of one of the leading cross-media conglomerates in Europe, tracing its development from a single newspaper publisher in 1972.Prisa is now the worlds leading Spanish and Portuguese-language media group in the creation and distribution of content in the fields of culture, education, and information, producing content for more than twenty countries with global brands like El Pas (newspaper), Los 40 (radio), or Santillana (education). Using a critical political economy approach, the authors track Prisas journey to becoming a cross-media conglomerate, and examine how it mirrors the recent history of the economic and political developments in Spain. This concise and highly contemporary volume is ideal for students, scholars and researchers looking to further their understanding of a growing Spanish-language media power, or more generally interested in international communication and media industries.

Indigenous Knowledges and the Sustainable Development Agenda
This book discusses the vital importance of including indigenous knowledges in the sustainable development agenda. In the wake of colonialism and imperialism, dialogue between indigenous knowledges and Western epistemology has broken down time and again. However, in recent decades the broader indigenous struggle for rights and recognition has led to a better understanding of indigenous knowledges, and in 2015 the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined the importance of indigenous engagement in contributing to the implementation of the agenda.
Drawing on experiences and field work from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe, Indigenous Knowledges and the Sustainable Development Agenda brings together authors who explore social, educational, institutional and ecological sustainability in relation to indigenous knowledges. In doing so, this book provides a comprehensive understanding of the concept of sustainability, at both national and international levels, from a range of diverse perspectives.
As the decolonizing debate gathers pace within mainstream academic discourse, this book offers an important contribution to scholars across development studies, environmental studies, education, and political ecology.

Routledge Studies in Indigenous Peoples and Policy
There are an estimated 370 million Indigenous Peoples in over 70 countries worldwide, often facing common issues stemming from colonialism and its ongoing effects. Routledge Studies in Indigenous Peoples and Policy bring together books which explore these concerns, including poverty; health inequalities; loss of land, language and culture; environmental degradation and climate change; intergenerational trauma; and the struggle to have their rights, cultures, and communities protected.
Indigenous Peoples across the world are asserting their right to fully participate in policy making that affects their people, their communities, and the natural world, and to have control over their own communities and lands. This book series explores policy issues, reports on policy research, and champions the best examples of methodological approaches. It will explore policy issues from the perspectives of Indigenous Peoples in order to develop evidence-based policy and create policy-making processes that represent Indigenous Peoples and support positive social change.

Hanne Kirstine Adriansen is an associate professor of educational anthropology at Aarhus University, where her research concerns the geography of knowledge and education. She is particularly interested in how universality and particularity are assigned to different types of knowledge by different actors and thus how global knowledge hierarchies are created and contested. Originally trained as a human geographer, she has extensive fieldwork experience from West and North Africa where she has worked in close collaboration with universities and other research institutions. She has also participated in a number of research capacity building projects in Africa and Asia. This led to publications about decolonization of international academic collaboration and the edited book (together with Lene Mller Madsen & Stig Jensen) Higher Education and Capacity building in Africa (published by Routledge in 2016).
Shrishtee Bajpai is a researcher-activist based in Pune and is member of an environmental action group-Kalpavriksh. She is a core team member of a global process Global Tapestry of Alternatives aimed at creating exchanges, synergies, cross-learning, and collaboration amongst the various radical alternative and social/ecological justice movements around the world.
