Gerard Boucher is a Lecturer in Sociology in the School of Social Sciences at the University of the West of Scotland. Previously, he was a Lecturer at Queens University Belfast, and a Research Fellow in the Employment Research Centre at Trinity College Dublin. He has worked on European Commission and Irish based research projects, and was co-leader of the Migration, Identities & Diversity group in the European Thematic Network, HumanitarianNet. His current research interests are on the topics of immigration and integration in the Republic of Ireland, social cohesion in the European Union, and discourses on managing international migration.
Rebecca Chiyoko King-ORiain (PhD UC Berkeley) is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. She has published on issues of race, racial categorization, mixed race, beauty pageants, Japanese Americans and immigrants in Ireland. Her book Pure Beauty: Judging Race in Japanese American Beauty Pageants (University of Minnesota Press) was published in 2006. She has also had recent articles in: Ethnicities, Irish Journal of Geography, Sociology Compass, Journal of Asian American Studies, Amerasia Journal, and the Handbook of Cultural Sociology.
Theophilus Ejorh completed his doctorate in Sociology in 2008 from University College Dublin. His other academic qualifications include: an MA in Development Studies, an MA in English and a Postgraduate Certificate in Peace Studies and Conflict Transformation. Before he left his native Nigeria for Ireland, he worked as a journalist with The Vanguard newspaper and The African Guardian magazine, both in Lagos, as economic and political reporter, with an additional career in human rights activism. Currently, he teaches Race and Ethnicity in the School of Sociology and Social Theory in the Adult Education Centre of University College Dublin, as occasional lecturer.
Bryan Fanning is the Co-Director of the Migration and Citizenship Research Initiative at University College Dublin. His books include Racism and Social Change in the Republic of Ireland (2002), The Quest for Modern Ireland (2008), New Guests of the Irish Nation (2009) and Immigration and Social Cohesion in the Republic of Ireland (2011) and as editor Immigration and Social Change in the Republic of Ireland (2010). Professor Fanning teaches in the School of Applied Social Science at UCD.
Irial Glynn received his BA and MA from University College Dublin and his PhD in late 2009 from the European University Institute, Florence. He specializes in migration history. He is currently co-editing a book entitled History, Memory and Migration: Perceptions of the Past and the Politics of Incorporation and teaching history at University College Dublins Adult Education Centre.
