CHAPTER 1
EDITORIAL INTRODUCTION
Nina Maadad and Malcolm Tight
INTRODUCTION
This book offers a contemporary perspective on the nature and experience of academic mobility i.e. the mobility of academics (professors, lecturers and researchers) as opposed to students across the globe. In addition to this introductory chapter, it contains 12 chapters by authors based in Australia, Germany, Ireland, Israel, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States, focusing on the context for and experience of academic mobility in Africa, Australia, Europe, the Gulf and the United States.
This chapter provides a brief overview of the current state of research and writing on academic mobility and then introduces the substantive chapters that follow.
