Here are Some Signs that you need to Work on your Ego:
Almost everyone can improve their ego, but how do you know for sure if you fall under this category? Lets look at a few signs:
- No Accomplishment Ever Keeps you Satisfied for Long:
You work and work toward a goal, telling yourself that once you reach it, you will be happy and fulfilled. The problem is that once you do, you still feel unhappy.
- You are Constantly feeling Insecure or Envious:
You need to compare yourself to others ceaselessly in order to find satisfaction. You dont feel okay with where youre at unless you can see that its better than where someone else is. You gain happiness from feeling smarter or better than others.
- You have Many Burned Bridges in your Past:
Perhaps this is a long series of bad breakups, or friendships that fell by the wayside after a big argument. Typically, its a sign that your ego is out of control if you have trouble keeping healthy relationships.
- You have a lot of Addictions, even to Socially Acceptable Things like Coffee or Social Media:
Ego thrives on constantly needing something, and this can take many forms. If you find that you are always reaching for something, its likely a sign that your ego needs some work.
If you found yourself nodding or mentally agreeing with one or more of these points, you need to work on your ego. The good news is, its easy to fix and just takes commitment. If youre ready to improve your life, relationships, and sense of self, this book is perfect for you!
How to Take Back Your Personal Power:
Our ego makes us feel as though were never good enough, creates strong emotional reactions in us that make us feel powerless, and then forces us to take the blame. This is not our natural state of being, which is why its so hard to recognize and control. However, fixing this is perfectly possible and starts with knowledge and your own mindset on the matter.
The quality of life all begins with your mentality and beliefs. A person with a healthy relationship with their ego and a positive mentality will prosper and enjoy life, while a person who lives under the rule of their ego will suffer and act out a number of unhealthy behaviors, usually without even realizing why they keep sabotaging themselves and ruining opportunities. The good news is, you dont have to keep doing this.
If you would like to conquer addictions, improve relationships, and become the best version of yourself, youve come to the right place. I will walk you, step by step, through proven methods for conquering your ego and becoming the best you possible. Chapter 1: What is the Ego?
The ego is an idea of self that we have created. We are an intelligent person or a bad speller. We are great at sports or awkward and ungraceful. We observe ourselves and go through many experiences in life and then construct the stories about ourselves which we will live by. Even when evidence that may contradict one of our ideas of self comes up, we dont even notice it. This is how strongly we are attached to our ego, or idea of self.
How to Tell What Your Ego Looks Like:
- To figure out what your ego is, take a look at all of your beliefs about who you are, what your personality consists of, and your abilities and talents.
- You can do this by writing down a list of all of your qualities and personality traits, such as shy, outgoing, or talkative.
- You can even make a list of things youre good at, things youre bad at, or characteristics that you see as unchangeable about yourself or life. Make three lists with a category for each.
Writing these down will give you a clear picture of what your personal ego looks like, but keep in mind that it is far more complex than this and that some parts of it will remain hidden to you.
You believe that you simply are certain ways, and see this as a static and unchanging thing, which stays constant. These ideas of who we are will be based around true qualities of ourselves, but the actual mental idea of that self may not be as real as you imagine. What if you found out that these ideas dont have to be true? Are you skeptical? Lets look deeper into this and find out.
Your Unchangeable and Permanent Characteristics:
It may seem as though these are unchangeable facts to come to terms with. I mean, youve proved time and time again that youre intelligent in one way, but dumb in others. You have shown over and over that you are clumsy, just look at how often you trip over your own feet! But what if some parts of you are only true because you believe them to be? What if your expectations of how you are are the main factor in creating your personality?
Lets look at some of the ways we can recognize the ego and thus free ourselves from it more and more.
Our Mental Relationship with the Ego:
In reality, these factors of ourselves and our reaction to them are a dynamic and active part of who we are, but far from the whole picture. Our attachment to this mental image of our personalities causes a lot of unnecessary drama and suffering in our lives, especially when what we believe and what we observe are in disharmony. The ego likes to hide behind the words me and I in all of these thoughts we have about ourselves, gaining a sense of comfort from knowing what the facts are and what to expect.
