Embryos, Galaxies, and Sentient Beings: How the Universe Makes Life: summary, description and annotation

We offer to read an annotation, description, summary or preface (depends on what the author of the book "Embryos, Galaxies, and Sentient Beings: How the Universe Makes Life" wrote himself). Why is the universe conscious? What kindles mind inside matter? Why do fundamentalist sciences and religions never ask these questions? This sequel to Embryogenesis deals with the theoretical issues brought up by Embryogenesis, including: the relationship between thermodynamics/entropy and the emergence of life; a speculative set of embryogenic principles for all creatures on all planets in the cosmos; an explanation and critique of Intelligent Design and a proposal for a more dynamic psychospiritual theory of creature development; a series of alternatives to genetic determinism; a discussion of the relationship between consciousness and matter; an interjection of 9/11 (which occurred during the writing of this book); and many other topics. Chapters include: What is Life?: Evolution, Thermodynamics, and Complexity; Is There a Plan?: Creationism, Cultural Relativism, and Paraphysics; Biogenesis and Cosmogenesis: Cells, Genes, and Planets; The Principles of Biological Design: Physical Forces in Nature; The Dynamics of the Biosphere: Deep Time and Space; The Limits of Genetic Determinism: Dimensionless Epigenetic Landscapes; Topokinesis: Physical Forces in Development; Tissue Motifs and Body Plans: Coordinating Form; The Primordial Field: Metabiology and The Molecular Apparatus; Meaning and Destiny: The Relation of Consciousness to Matter

v3.1

For Bob Bagwell, January 25, 1938, Chicago, Illinois4 December 2002, Portland, Oregon:

He started my first tai chi class (Plainfield, Vermont, 1974); he introduced me to psychobiology and neuro-Darwinism; he was always a reassuring and hopeful voice; his teasing so often saved us from earnestness; he helped me track my own life and the lives of my kids, even when I didnt see him for years; he made exchange of ideas and friendship expressions of each other.

For Richard Handel, 4 January 1949, Springfield, Massachusetts5 December 2002, Binghamton, New York:

Through his acts Mount Desert Island became sacred ground; he modelled a life of service and playful witnessing of our various plights; he found buddha-nature in everyone, not only swamis and lamas; he was fearless, even daredevil, because he was light as a feather; he taught that being oneself is the purest spiritual practice, kindness to others its sole measure.

Foreword

John E Upledger DO OMM In my opinion the author of this book Richard - photo 5

John E. Upledger, D.O., O.M.M.

In my opinion the author of this book, Richard Grossinger, is a man far ahead of his time, perhaps a genius. In fact, the rest of humanity may never catch up with him. Richard is also the publisher, through North Atlantic Books, of my own most recent manuscript entitled Cell Talk in which, as a clinician (not a biologist, mind you), I put forth the concept that cellsand protein molecules, as well as tissues, organs, and systemshave individual consciousnesses and are able and ready to enter into a dialogue, using human verbiage, with a therapist and/or the owner of the body of which they are constituents. In carrying out this dialogue, the owner of the body must be willing to allow the cells to freely (without editing or censorship) use his or her vocal apparatusthat is, to speak through a cellular voice. This dialogue can then beand often isquite successful in illuminating methods for reversing disease processes, enhancing health, and correcting bodily, emotional, spiritual, and cosmic imbalances.

Since I am a practicing physician, I have included a lot of functional biology, patient perceptions, and patient responsiveness in Cell Talk. I speak from that experience rather than from the point of view of a professional cell biologist who might presume he had no reason to look for cell intelligence. My perspective is one of asking cells for their own point of view on this matter rather than imposing a belief system on them. Keeping an open mind on cell talk is not that different from keeping an open mind on interspecies communication between humans and plants or sea mammals. If you want to hear, you have to tune into available channels, not just those that science deems most likely. You have to trust intuition and not just depend on what the rational mind tells you is possible.
