CONTENTS
If youve read any of my other books or followed my work, you probably think of me as a Western-trained ob/gyn physician and surgeon who has been offering women effective alternatives to drugs and surgery for decades. Ive been working to help people think about their health and their bodies in a more empowered way. What you may not know is that from the time I was a teenager Ive been enthralled with all things spiritual and metaphysicalthe forces that cannot be seen but that influence us profoundly. Though conversations about angels, reincarnation, and Spirit guides are not standard in the hospitals and clinics where Ive spent decades, I have come to the conclusion that life without spiritual understanding, especially when youre faced with pain or loss, is very difficult. Unless we understand that there is a much bigger picture that requires faith, we are too often left feeling like powerless victims of forces beyond our control. We slowly start to believe that Lifes a bitch and then you die.
But life doesnt have to be like this. It doesnt have to be nearly as hard as most of us make it. All it takes is a shift of perspective, a move to taking the bigger view. Ive known this for yearslifetimes, in factand the time has finally come for me to share what Ive always known about how to make your life easy. Thats what this book is about.
The essence of everything you will learn in these pages comes down to this: To live an easy life, you have to align with the Divine part of yourself. In fact, you have to let it lead your life. This is not the same as waiting for some kind of Divine force outside of you to come swooping in to rescue you from your life. Thats not how it works. You have to make an effort to make changes. But when you align your personal will with Divine will, then you can move mountains.
Much of what Im going to teach you in this book is not logical, so chances are good that your logical left brain will find this information challenging. That part of you will always want scientific proof. But life doesnt work that way. Were here to develop faithfaith in things that our five senses cant see, touch, hear, or feel, and that our intellects cant prove. Weve all been trained to believe that randomized double-blind controlled studies will keep us safe and tell us what to do. But clinging to logical, rational linear thinking is what keeps life hard. Waiting for some authority other than our Divine connection to tell us what to do keeps us stuck in victimhood and pain.
Think of this book as an owners manual for bringing heaven down to earth. When you learn to align with your Divine self, your life becomes easier. You have access to guidance that will take you in the right direction. Youre able to make choices that are in your best interest. Things will simply flow, and youll be happy and filled with peace.
My journey with the Divine began years ago. When I was about 12 years old, I was babysitting for some family friends when I spied a small box that had come in the mail. The words Natives of Eternity were written on the box, which had come from a place called the Christward Ministry. Intriguedactually beyond intriguedI felt compelled to open the box. I knew it was wrong, but I was overcome by the need to know more.
Inside the box I found a book called Natives of Eternity, which was written by Christian mystic Flower Newhouse. It was all about angels. And nature spirits. And devas of the wind, water, and air. There were descriptions and paintings of all the beings who oversaw the plants, the wind, birth, death, and even music.
Something in me leapt to attention. This book confirmed everything that I was born knowing. It told me I was right to believe that theres much more to life than what we can see with our eyes and hear with our ears. It told me the kingdom of heaven is all around us, ready and waiting to assist us with life on earth. Every page was amazing. I couldnt stop reading.
When I got home, I told my mother all about the bookand that I had opened the box. Distressed by my transgression but happy about my excitement, she called Gretchen, who had hired me to babysit. She called to apologize but also to find out more about the book. Soon enough, I had my very own copya gift from Gretchen, who also gave me another gift. She suggested that we meet for brunch to talk about what Id learned from the book. She had been to the Christward Ministry in California many times, and she knew Reverend Newhouse. Thus began a series of meetings with Gretchen during which we would spend our time delighting in discussions of angels, nature Spirits, and the wonders of life.
