Preface
Perhaps you have read about the Mennonites in your newspaper or have visited one of their schools or hospitals. A Mennonite family or church may be near your home. Or perhaps you have tuned in on a Mennonite broadcast, seen pictures of them, or heard of their voluntary and disaster service work. You may have heard questions about them which you were unable to answer. Who are the Mennonites and what do they believe?
This booklet tells the story of the inner faith of the Mennonites. It does not answer many of the superficial or surface questions often asked. Instead, this is a brief description of the faith, the ideals toward which the Mennonite people aspire.
Is the Christian faith relevant to twentieth-century man? Part I discusses the question in the form of an invitation and describes the redemptive work of God as we understand it. Part II deals more directly with the Mennonite Christian fellowship.

I Finding Faith
Our Muddled World
Have you ever felt afraid of lifeor death? Perhaps even now, deep within, you are insecure and lonely. Secretly you know something is not right.
You may be prosperous, perhaps eminently successful, but life is disappointing. The details of living sap your energy and you seem to be spending yourself to no use. Is there any purpose in it all?
Perhaps you have been seekingsearching for meaning in life, for spiritual strength. But every-

where you turn there is a different answer. There are questions which seem to have no answer.
If Christianity is the answer, then why are there so many denominations? There are no fewer than 258 denominations in the United States, according to a recent count.
