DEDICATION
To Shri K.N. Rao,
who ignited in me the light of Jyotia.
Jyotia is the art of seeing light, of guiding, of counseling based on the truth called the horoscope. Jyotia is the pathway to God through the mazes of intuitions and the brilliance of an organized science, like any other science. Jyotia is the fusion of the divine with the mundane, the metaphysical with the scientific methodology, a divine chorus of the music of the heavens and the dance of the stars. It is that divine ballet, Jyotia, which is at once both divinity and science that we are presenting.

INTRODUCTION
I am very pleased to present this eighth volume of my collected articles. It contains researches on a wide range of topics beginning with Intimate Connections, which examines an oftentimes neglected aspect of Jyotia; the way in which planets mutually influence when they are in angles or trines from each other. If such planets are also in a good dignity, they can even give rja yoga-like effects in their periods and sub-periods.
The Curse of Serpents is a commentary on a portion of a strange chapter in Prara Hor, the main authoritative Sanskrit classic of Indian astrology, about combinations in a birth chart that can indicate childlessness or death of a child due to curses from a previous lifetime.
In a Steady and Comfortable Posture, I show the correlation of the houses of the birth chart to the classical eight limbs of Yoga and demonstrate how the third limb, the physical postures, is indicated by the 3rd house. This correlation is illustrated using the horoscopes of both world-famous Yoga teachers as well as celebrities well known for practicing yoga postures and extolling their benefits.
Salient Subtleties explores the significance in a horoscope of two planets that are in a nakatra exchange and are thus subtly but strongly connected. Can such planets then form yogas such as rja and dhana? I share my researches this way using the chart of many well-known personalities.
Cain and Abel is an article about assessing the static potential of a persons karma in sibling relationships and a methodology for predicting the birth of younger siblings using a combination of the birth chart along with the divisional chart pertaining to siblings specifically, the dreka (D-3)
Bright Ideas is a unique astrological research on the charts of famous inventors in order to discover those astrological factors that they have in common and which can predict an inclination and talent this way. For the first time I explore the potential importance of the trans-Saturnian planet, Uranus, in contributing to this.
Enjoy!
All of my astrological researches have one aim in mind. I want to see what factors predict certain events, especially desirable ones, like when people are successful in life. I endeavor to do this by examining the charts of people who had really notable success in some sphere of life, and the timing of this in the vimottar da system. I then try to determine what astrological factors accounted for this. my question is always, In what way was that predictable based on some interpretive principle of Jyotia?
I can remember doing this with the chart of Hollywood movie star, Tom Hanks, back in the mid-90s after he had won consecutive Oscars for Best Actor for his performances in the movies Philadelphia and Forrest Gump. It was his Venus-Saturn period.
As the 3rd and 10th lord in the 10th house svaketra, it was not difficult to see why this major period gave him some success as an actor, but it wasnt at all obvious why this mahda made him such a mega-star, and in the Venus-Saturn period in particular. Venus is very afflicted, being conjunct the Rhu-Ketu axis, aspected by Mars, and in a mutual glance with Saturn. This mutual glance with Saturn does not form an angle-trine combination either from the birth lagna or from the Moon since in both instances Venus and Saturn are angle lords only.
The application of da lagna shed some light on the matter since using the position of Venus in Taurus as a lagna, Saturn now becomes the yogakraka 9th and 10th lord in a mutual glance with the lagna lord.
D-10 also helped explain the remarkable results of Venus-Saturn since both planets have good sources of strength in this varga, with Venus in its mlatrikoa sign, and Saturn strong by virtue of parivartana yoga with its sign lord, Sun, and falling in the 11th from Venus.
Still, it was surprising to me that Venus could give such results without being configured in a rja yoga or other success/fame giving yogas in the birth chart. If you include the 11th house in the definition of Sarasvat Yoga like my teacher, K.N Rao, does, Venus was giving the result of this combination in its major period, but although this
