Any or all of these symptoms can indicate a thyroid problemeither a thyroid that is underperforming or one that is overperforming (while the symptoms might be distinct, there can be a lot of overlap). And if your doctor has assured you that you dont have a thyroid problemthat your labs are normal, or that youre already getting the right amount of supplemental thyroid hormone, or that your issues are caused by female hormones (if youre a woman) or low testosterone (if youre a man) or by depression or stress or anxiety or not being disciplined enough about your dietwell, Im here to tell you that, while some of this might be true, you still might have a thyroid problem.
Thats right. Even if your doctor says you dont have a thyroid problem, you very well might. It is all too sadly possible that the tests youre getting arent accurate, that your doctor is misinterpreting the results, that youre being undermedicated, that youre getting the wrong type of medicationor that youre suffering from some combination of all those factors.
