Praise for Building Shooters by Dustin P. Salomon
Dustin Salomons book Building Shooters is easily one of the more important books of our time when it comes to preparing police, military and armed civilians for armed lethal combat.
-Kenneth Murray, Founder, Reality Based Training Association
Author of Training at the Speed of Life
Whether youre teaching basic classes to beginners or mid-level and advanced training for armed professionals youll benefit from reading this work. For those trying to improve their skills understanding how the mind works, learns and applies skills will be a big help. This is one of those books you read, reread and then once or twice a year you go through it again. With every reading youll be growing and improving, which is what a good book should do.
-Tiger McKee, Director, Shootrite Firearms Academy
Author of The Book of Two Guns, and AR15 Skills and Drills
Building Shooters offers the clearest, simplest, most well-founded psychomotor training program I have seen for developing shooting skills, without the need for extensive live fire.
-Dr. Bill Lewinski, Executive Director, Force Science Institute
Revolutionary! Most books on tactical shooting are primarily based on an instructors experience, his preference, and ultimately his opinions. As experienced as many instructors are, I do not know of any who support their opinions with any real research and hard science. They do not understand WHY they prefer one mode of training over the other, besides it works for them.
This book dives deeper into the subject of tactical shooting than any other book. It explains the fascinating neuroscience behind the process of learning, acquiring new motor skills, and the effects of stress on the mind. Simply put, this book is revolutionary and I am confident that Mr. Salomon has contributed a pivotal piece of research on how we understand tactical shooting methodology. I cannot be more grateful for his work on the subject and this book will hold a special place on my book shelf. I look forward to seeing the effects his research will have on the tactical training industry.

Bring your brain with you. This is a book that breaks training down to the neurological level. Unlike traditional tactical and firearms related material, instead of covering skill, this book covers the training process. It has amazing content. I have always complained that the overwhelming majority of tactical instructors lack even a very basic knowledge of motor learning and behavior. This is a disgrace. This book will go a long ways to fixing that problem. If you are a professional tactical trainer this book will expand your horizons and get you to think more like a scientist and less like a knuckle dragger simply teaching the way it was taught to you.
-Amazon Customer Review
This book is for serious instructors. A must read.

-Ron Danielowski, Former USMC Primary Marksmanship Instructor

Mentoring Shooters is a must-read for anyone who mentors or instructs firearms users, especially new instructors. I plan to have all instructors at Tactical Advantage read it. The emphasis placed on teaching future generations a culture of safety and personal responsibility regarding gun ownership and use is exactly right; firearms safety is the top priority. I know personally that real-world deadly force encounters rely on fundamentally sound firearms safety enhanced with good, solid and ongoing training.
-Jason Falconer, President, Tactical Advantage
2016 NRA Law Enforcement Officer of the Year
2016 MN Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Officer of the Year
Anyone who works with inexperienced shooters...whether as a friend, relative, or as a professional instructor needs to read Mentoring Shooters. A shooters early instruction with a firearm can chart their direction for life. Make it a fun, comfortable, safe experience and its likely that theyll grow to love shooting as much as you do. Overwhelm them, scare them, or frustrate them and its like pouring salt in a garden. Mentoring Shooters is a serious upgrade over traditional firearms training methods and it will show you the most effective ways to help new or inexperienced shooters comfortably and safely handle pistols and have early success shooting. Most importantly, youll learn how to do it so theyll actually remember what you taught them days, weeks, and months later. Youll learn the right (and wrong) words to use, how to stack the deck in your favor for early fun and success, how to diagnose and address common challenges that most new shooters have, and more.

Foreword
I met Dusty Salomon during one of my annual trips to the Minnesota State Fair in Minneapolis following my live radio show from the state fairgrounds the previous evening. I knew from the moment he shook my hand that he was, as we say, the real deal. He invoked a level of intensity that can be born only from real dedication and raw passion. From the firmness of his grip during our handshake to the eye contact and kindness he showed me as he said hello, I could feel his desire to share his work. Honestly, I was a little intimidated. Introduced by a mutual friend, retired Navy SEAL Larry Yatch, I suddenly found myself in the company of two guys who had been there and done that. Larry had been a guest on
