A large house has many rooms and many doors. Each door has its own key. But a master key is designed to open any door in the building. The person with the master key can go anywhere.

The life we have is like a building with many different rooms. Each room contains the memories of important events in life. Some of the doors remain wide open, and we enjoy the memories these rooms contain. Other doors are closed, but we have no difficulty opening them whenever we wish. There is no pain associated with the memories these rooms contain.

But some of the doors are both closed and locked. What lies behind these doors is too painful to look at, and often the key has been thrown away. Some of these rooms have names such as trauma, rejection, betrayal, abuse, disloyalty, divorce or accidents.

People continue through life knowing there is unresolved pain behind these locked doors. Sometimes the pain was caused by others, and sometimes the pain was caused by their own mistakes. They often do not know how to resolve a situation for which they believe they are responsible. They do their very best to carry on, but as the years go by it gets harder and harder to cover up the fact that they are hurting.

The homes of some people have so many locked doors that there is very little space left in which to live. They have closed the doors on the mess inside hoping that the doors will stay shut forever. Because of all of these locked doors, however, the people cease to be able to function effectively as normal human beings. There can be so much hidden pain, trauma, anger, resentment or jealousy that they become less and less like the people God intended them to be.

Sometimes the mess on the inside seeps out from under the doors of the locked rooms. When that happens, people try to cover the mess up and carry on as if nothing is happening. But everyone else can see the mess, and those with whom they are in relationship have to live with the consequences.

Sometimes they try to clean up the mess from the outside; however, a point will be reached where the mess coming from under the doors is more than they can cope with. They know that they can only deal with the problem properly by opening the door and going inside. In some cases, the key has been thrown away. They cannot open the doors by themselves, and they need help. They need a new key.

Amazingly, Jesus left us a master keya key so powerful and effective that it can open even the most stubborn of these locked doors. But He requires our cooperation to use it.

Jesus is not frightened of the mess that lies behind the doors. He wants to go in with us and help us clean it up. He designed this master key personally for you and for me, and then He showed us how to use it.

This golden master key is the most powerful prayer on earth. It is life transforming. As you hold this book, you are holding the instructions on how to use it. No circumstance is so awful or devastating that it is beyond the relevance of this amazing prayer.
