No matter what youve been through, what youve done, or whats been done to you, you can be free from the experiences of the past and live life to the fullest with no regrets. This teaching is founded upon one simple truth: What Jesus has done is enough to set you free from your past.
Jesus paid the price for you through His redemptive work on the cross, and freedom is available now. Applying this powerful truth in a personal way to past experiences is the best waysometimes the only wayto get free from regrets. You have so much to live for! Revelation 21:4 says, God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. This scripture is talking about a day in the future when were in heaven and God the Father will personally wipe away our tears. These tears represent regrets of all varietieswrong choices, missed opportunities, failures, and heartbreaks. In heaven, God will completely remove the stains and scars left by sin and all the other negative experiences of life.
For years, Ive enjoyed preaching on this verse and looking forward to this wonderful day when sin and evil will be no more, and well forever be free from the effects of the past. But we dont have to wait until we get to heaven to be free of regrets. We can have freedom now!
This revelation has changed my life. Freedom from anything that causes regret in this life has already been paid for on the cross. We can live free not because of what weve done but because of what Hes done! God isnt going to do a new thing in heaven when He wipes away our tears. He will just fully apply a redemption that is already ours. We can apply the same truths today and enjoy freedom from the past right now.
Jesus paid such a high price for our failures, the last thing He wants us to do is spend our lives looking back with regret. Its time to move on! God has big plans for your future!
