This booklet, The Two Divine Promises, covers one of the most important subjects that Catholics should be concerned with, for it treats of matters that entail our own personal salvation as well as that of countless others, and by implication it includes also our well-being here on earth, for God blesses cities and nations for the sake of the just: "By the blessing of the just the city shall be exalted." (Prov. 11:11). Therefore, this booklet is being made available at the lowest possible price for quantity distribution in order to reach as many people as possible. The issue is the salvation of souls and peace in the world.

PUBLISHER'S PREFACE
The Two Divine Promises are a private revelation. Are we duty-bound by Faith to believe in them? Of course not! But are they true? There is no certain way to tellother than to practice this devotion and wait till we get to Heaven to see for sure. But may we presume that they are true? I would say yes, that we can perform this devotion with relative confidence, having always a conditional attitude in mind and by addressing Our Lord in something of the following manner: "Dear Lord, if The Two Divine Promises are in fact true and if Thou wilt indeed reward the faithful execution of this devotion with such glorious results, I hereby offer it to Thee for the purposes Thou hast ordained."
Can we be hurt spiritually by making this devotion? It is difficult to see how, for we are merely employing the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Blessed Eucharist and a few extra prayersthe normal means Our Lord has established for the welfare of our souls and our eternal salvation. May we propagate this devotion? And should we? Of course! What possible harm can be done by promoting attendance at Mass, the Sacraments and prayer? Should we foist upon others our strong conviction that this revelation is true? No, for others may get the wrong ideafor example, that we think a person has to believe in The Two Divine Promises, or that we have become "misguided" by placing too much confidence in a private revelation. May we proceed to the practice and promotion of this devotion with a relative moral certitude that it is true? Of courseso long as we always realize that it came from a private source and there is no absolute way to confirm itand also so long as we submit our minds and our hearts in advance to whatever decision might come from Holy Mother Church in its regard, just as the author has already done in the beginning of this book, by submitting himself in advance to the decisions of the Church, in keeping with the famous decrees of Pope Urban VIII to that effect. For, again, we are practicing and promoting in this devotion nothing more than what Holy Mother the Church asks of usMass, Sacraments, prayer, and the urgings of these for others as well.
The important question here is whether God has in fact bound Himself to grant the results which this devotion claims for itself. Again, we cannot know for sure. We must simply leave that to Him in His great mercy and wait until eternity to find out.
But surely such a powerful sacrificial work as The Two Divine Promises call for by uson behalf of ourselves and otherscan only do great, great good toward those ends for which we offer this devotion.
Now, on the other hand, if indeed this devotion is true, then all the magnificent things Fr. Hoppe says about it are absolutely correct and proper! In fact, he could probably go even further in his acclamation for this devotion.
Finally, in the interest of reinforcing what Fr. Hoppe says in this little booklet about the greatness and power of The Two Divine Promises, we have added to the end of this booklet a short appendix which quotes that part of of St. John's Gospel where Our Blessed Lord speaks about the importance of receiving His Body and Blood and where He gives His mighty promises to those who do. In a very real sense, it would appear that The Two Divine Promises devotion is nothing more than an extension of the incredible promises Our Divine Lord Himself has made about the power of receiving His Body and Blood.
The reader, once having finished this book, should then prayerfully meditate upon these words of Our Divine Saviour as quoted in the Appendix and contemplate in silence the meaning of His sweeping claims in John 6. Thereafter, the reader should reconsider The Two Divine Promises and should ask himself whether indeedin keeping with the intent of Our Lord's words in Scripture, which words we can in fact accept with absolute certaintyThe Two Divine Promises are not merely an extension of the great promises He makes there. It seems to me that they are an extension of His Scriptural promises and that we can safely perform this devotion with a high degree of confidence in their truth.
It is for these reasons therefore that we offer readers this new edition of The Two Divine Promises, asking that they keep all these preliminary thoughts in mind, and we pray that this devotion will captivate the hearts of many people and will help them grow in the knowledge and love of God by increasing the number of times they assist at Mass and by causing them more frequently to receive the Sacraments, and also that this devotion will thereby bring about an abundant flowing of divine grace into the souls of the poor, misguided people of our reprobate 20th century.
