I found Ancient Blueprint for the Supernatural fascinating with regard to the cultural context of first century Jewish followers of Jesus. It was inspiring to learn about how well-educated and familiar with the scriptures they were, and how dedicated they were to teaching the Gentiles about spiritual living. I feel like I could meditate on the Didache and it would be like meditating on the beatitudes, or the Proverbs. The book is also filled with many practical bits of information that serve as a guide in how to practice being in the Spirit more actively. A very enriching and practical read.

C ONTENTS

AS its full title states, The Lords Teaching to the Twelve Apostles for the Gentiles [Nations], the Didache was framed by Jewish apostles as a training program for the apprenticeship of Gentiles in the Way of Life prior to joining the Messianic community. The roots of the Didache go deep into Jewish tradition and belief, which is not surprising because Christianity has Jewish roots. Jesus was a Jewish rabbi and His disciples were Jewish disciples. Gentiles were grafted into the holy root of Israel. Jesus is the promised Messiah for both Jew and Gentile.

If the first portion of the dough is holy, the batch is also holy. And if the root is holy, so are the branches. But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among them and became a partaker with them of the root and richness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. If you boast, remember you do not sustain the root, but the root sustains you (Romans 11:16-18).
