Foreword -The 4assumptions
Quran, for thebelievers, is a complete source of guidance for total subjugationof oneself to Allah and Mohammed. However, though the Quran isconsidered as a complete source of guidance, many have to depend onhadiths and few other books to figure out solutions and to find outhow the prophet would have managed similar situations back in thosetimes. This book makes an overview of the recent scientificfindings on the nature of human behavior, working and functioningof the human brain enabling one to make better interpretations ofone's religion. Additionally, it makes a few interpretations of theIslamic view concerned with the lineage and prophecy of Abrahamicreligions. This should greatly empower a Muslim (or even believerof other religions) to take a clearer view of oneself and help toadvance further in the right direction concerned with one'sspiritual yearnings. This book makes a few fundamental assumptionswhich I believe Muslim friends will have no objection: -
1) It assumes that you believe inGod and that, it is God that made you (it is OK even if you do nothave such a belief).
2) This book doesn't make claimsthat Prophet Muhammad was the most intelligent or smartest of allmankind, but it does assume that the Prophet was one of the mostmorally civilized people ever to walk on this planet Earth. Afterall, that's one of the greatest qualities we all attribute to a"Prophet". (As we move further, we will even have support from thefield of science of modern neurology for this!)
3) It is also assumed that theProphet intended to guide or make or get people as close to God aspossible, to make/guide ordinary people like us - the favorite aspossible in the eyes of God.
4) Additionally, this book assumesthat the true preaching of the prophet Mohammed will be trueguidance even for our future generations; that is, it is timeimmortal. So, everything that science figures out regarding humannature, human behavior, etc. will only add proof for the validityof his teachings.
A few more assumptions are made along theway and if any contradictions happen to arise, they are tackledwith reason or logic needing only elementary intelligence and aresettled in accordance with the above stated 4 fundamentalassumptions.
Preface 1
Islamic world believes that Prophet Mohammed was the finestman; the man with the highest morale ever to walk on this planetwhich obviously puts everyone else "below moral" when compared tothe moral of the prophet. However, as per the proverb "All looksyellow to the jaundiced eyes", how can a man of low morale evertruly understand the values of higher morale? What if the prophetwas a man of even far greater virtues than that Muslims generallyconsider? Why are there different sects of Islam? Much more, why isthere little harmony (if any) among them even when they believethat they all are rightfully following the same person? What is therelevance of "muqatta'at" (mysterious words) in the Quran? What canit teach the believers? If you learn and interpret more of Quran, which sect will you move on to? Since all prophets preached thesame core beliefs, are Muslims paying justice to the prophets'lineage? When God itself appeared in front of other prophets, whywas the task handed over to Gabriel when it came to the part ofMohammed (PBUH), especially when he was appointed as the lastprophet for mankind and was bestowed with far more responsibility? What can it teach us? Caliph Uthman on one occasion had to destroymany fake or variant Qurans! Considering the importance of theQuran, why didn't Mohammed take measures to standardize the Quranin the first place, especially when he knew of the Bible and otherholy books that came before the Quran? Are modern-day Muslimsguided towards true UMMAH?
This book takes a peep into themodern findings on how our brain works and its nature. This shouldmake one realize that much of the discrepancy associated with theQuran and Islam is the outcome of a grievous crime the believersare unknowingly and unintentionally doing to oneself, and in doingso even committing the crime to the very prophet himself. Hope thisbook will be successful in its attempt to make everyone realizethis truth. Believers now can have scientific proofs along with theright guidance! It is hoped that believers will realize howimportant and valuable it is in directing and helping us inachieving the true prophet's dream of "UMMAH". Additionally, thisbook makes one realize to what one should be thankful for, howone should express his/her gratitude towards it and what one shouldvalue and what one should protect. This book should empower thosetruly honest Muslims (which I hope, constitutes the majority) toread between the lines of Quran.
Introduction 1:
According to Muslims, Mohammed (570-632AD) is thefounder of Islam. As per Islamic doctrine, he was a prophet, sentto present and confirm the monotheistic teachings preachedpreviously by Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and other prophets. Itis believed that messages of God were revealed to him by the angelGabriel and several of Mohammed's companions served as scribes andrecorded the revelations. After the death of the prophet, some 40years or so later, caliph Uthman "happened to notice that therewere variations in the Quran and took measures to standardize thebook".
As time passed, currently thereexist very many schools of Islamic thoughts, all claiming they arethe 'real' rightful or truthful followers. Each of these sects ofIslam is "on the duty and path" of eliminating every other sect ofIslam! After all, heaven is for those "who follow the right Islamin the rightful way".
So, how do you know you arefollowing the "right" Islam? What if there is a way to know that? That's exactly the purpose of this book. With the help of knowledgegained from recent advancement in modern science especially inthe realm of human behavior , especially concerned with theformation of habit, memories, free will, mental disorders, theeffect of conditioning on one's behavior, the working of the brain, etc., this book should enable you to make a fair and rightfuldecision in this regard.
This book is based on the above(italicized) paragraphs and a few words from the Quran which shouldenable you to read between the lines of the Quran, so that you canhave a glimpse of the greatness of the virtues of Mohammed (PBUH),what Mohammed (PBUH) really cherished or envisioned of the futureto be. We will go through the effect of the various practices onhis behavior, and the modifications those practices would have madeto his brain in accordance with the modern understanding of thehuman brain. Additionally but most importantly, you will come toknow about things Mohammed (PBUH) himself didn't do (and everthought of doing), but over a billion of his followers are doing;even committing such acts and wrongfully attributing it to hisname; you will find the sole reason why there are many offshoots inIslam and why they are in disharmony with each other; You will findthe powerful cause that it even deviated the path of Islam fromwhat it should have been.
