ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

This book is published with thanks to the family whose generous gift made possible both this book and the consultation from which it arose.

We thank our God every time we remember you. We pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, confident that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

(paraphrased from Philippians 1:36)

Thanks also to those who graciously welcomed us and hosted our gathering, to the authors who have spent long hours writing and revising these papers, to Greg who helped us get them into shape for publication, and to Volney, Angela, Andy, and the team at our publisher who have helped us make these papers available to you, the reader.

Most of all, we thank our brothers and sisters who have come to faith in Christ, whose stories we tell in these pages, and Jesus Christ in whom we share a common hope.
