Acknowledgments

We would like to say a big thank you to all those who took part in the groups at the Starlight Centre, and particularly to those whose regression sessions form the core of this book. This is very much your book, and we feel privileged to have been part of this process which has renewed so many links of friendship. Sadly our friend Martha, one of the seven regression subjects, died before this book was published. Our thoughts are with you, Martha, and the whole group misses you.

Joanna writes: I would like to acknowledge my daughter Tatanya for her help and supplying information for this book. My thanks also to the rest of my family, Larissa, Katinka and Chris, for their patience and for putting up with me whilst I co-wrote this book. All of you, thank you. Our special thanks to Dolores Cannon for her help and support during the development of this book. In particular we are grateful for her advice on extending the manuscript, and her help in identifying areas that needed more research. By going back to the regression process much new and interesting information emerged.

Our thanks to Anne MacEwen, President of the Essene Network International, for tracking down sources and for reading the manuscript and identifying mistypings. We are grateful to Anne and to Sylvia Moss for their encouragement and support, especially during the Networks Summer Gathering in July 2001. This convinced us that it was worthwhile making one final effort to access the Melchizedek material.

Many thanks to Maggi Fielder for suggesting sources, reading the manuscript and making many useful comments; to Ann Ross, Dechen Powell and Felicity Bartlett for suggesting sources; Martin Holyoak for letting us see the book by Gaura Devi; and Jackie Dixon for reading the manuscript and identifying mistypings.

Preface by Stuart Wilson

I am a writer on new perspectives and the author of a best-selling name dictionary called Simply the Best Baby Name Book. I moved to mid Devon in the English West country in 1990 to work on the development of the Starlight Centre with its co-founder Joanna Prentis. The Centre focuses on healing and the transformation of consciousness.

This book is the result of our collaboration in the field of past life regression. Joanna is a qualified hypnotherapist and past life therapist, and conducted the sessions. I transcribed the tapes and edited the material into book form.

We have each contributed an introductory section, and we wrote commentaries where appropriate in the text. I also wrote a summation putting the project into perspective.

The regression process which forms the core of this book involves a number of sessions with a total of seven subjects:

Subject's name --- Essene name

Stuart --- Daniel Benezra

Rowena --- Joseph of Arimathea

John --- Luke

Roberta --- The Silent One

Martha --- Name not given

The two other subjects, Nicky and Carol, were followers of Jesus, but we did not find an Essene connection.

We are not saying that Rowena is the incarnation of the entire higher self of Joseph of Arimathea. One higher self may incarnate in several simultaneous soul aspects and we regard Rowena as an aspect of Joseph. This means that other people now living could also be aspects of Joseph. However, as individuals go through the regression process, it feels to them as if they are the entire being.

The first four subjects knew one another during that life: three lived in communities to the west of the Dead Sea, whilst the fourth (Joseph) traveled frequently and visited all three communities. The close links between these four people formed a key which enabled us to penetrate the Essene veil of secrecy. It made it possible for us to access information in a number of areas including some quite sensitive material concerning security issues. This information, including the location of Essene communities and the existence of a Core Group, has not previously been revealed, and advances our knowledge of the way in which the Essenes functioned. So does the material on Essene philosophy and the balance of priests and lay Brothers. The information emerging from this process both confirms previous regression work, and opens up an entirely new understanding of the lives and thought world of the Essenes. The Essenes did not refer to Jesus by that name. For reasons of secrecy and security he was referred to either as Benjoseph (literally, 'the son of Joseph') or as Yeshua, another form of this name being Jeshua. We realize that these names may well be confusing to the reader, and whenever he is referred to in the regression sessions we have altered this to read Jesus.
