I highly recommend Tony Cookes book, Miracles and the Supernatural Throughout Church History. I am also a student of history, and there is much to glean from our early and modern-day church fathers. This book is a fantastic study of miracles and the supernatural. It is an excellent addition to anyones library.

Tony Cooke has done an excellent job of showing how the Holy Spirit continued to work in the church after the death of the twelve apostles and how He continues to work powerfully today.
He has also done an excellent job of showing from example the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between Word and Spirit. Anyone wanting to learn about the Holy Spirit will want to give priority to reading this volume.

Tony Cooke has a written an amazing book about our miracle-working God. Miracles and the Supernatural Throughout Church History details for todays believer that we not only serve a God who has done miracles in the early church, but our same Lord is confirming His Word with signs following within the church of today. Tonys detailed study of the Spirits work, by way of miracles and other supernatural manifestations throughout history, strategically positions him to counsel the church of today to expect the miraculous in our day. This book will bolster your faith and you will find yourself saying, Oh Lord, do it again in my generation!

What Tony Cooke gives us in his book, Miracles and the Supernatural Throughout Church History, is masterful. The research of individuals from the early church fathers to this present time who experienced and believed in Gods miraculous power is both informative and inspiring. Along with being a brilliant resource on the subject, Miracles and the Supernatural also provides solid instruction for anyone in our day who desires to understand and be used of God in the miraculous.

Its clear that we have seen a great increase in the manifestation of the Spirits power and gifts since the early 1900s, but its also clear the Spirit never stopped healing and delivering and working miracles throughout Church history. Here, with careful research but in very readable, balanced form, Tony Cooke presents a faith-building survey of the Spirits work over the past 2,000 years, using the miraculous accounts as teachable moments as well. As you read these pages, culminating with todays worldwide, mighty outpouring of the Spirit, your heart will be stirred to prayer and to action. All things are possible with Him!

My father-in-law, John Osteen, who spent nearly two decades as a Baptist minister, had his life and ministry dramatically altered through seeking and experiencing the Holy Spirits power personally. Healings, miracles, and supernatural works resulted in his family, church, and ministry serving in foreign lands. He loved telling people his whole life was revolutionized when he realized: There never was a day of miracles; there is a God of miracles. May the wonderfully researched insights of Tony Cookes book, Miracles and the Supernatural Throughout Church History, usher you into that same transforming reality.

This is a most refreshing book and an essential read for every believer. It is both history and teaching material. It shows us that after Jesus and His apostles, the miraculous works of Jesus have continued in and through His Church for the past 2,000 years, and they continue even today. Having preached in more than seventy-five countries since 1976, I have seen the dead raised, the lame walk, the blind see. This is because the miraculous is an integral part of the Gospel of Jesus. My experience is that it is normal that miraculous signs always accompany the preaching of the Word of God.

Tony Cookes latest book provides readers with an understandable and balanced overview of the supernatural ministry of the Holy Spirit in the Church since the first century that will inspire, correct, and instruct Christians as they set about to do the works of Jesus in the 21st century. For those who, like the psalmist of old, have a heart-held conviction that the works of the Lord [are to be] studied by all who delight in them (Psalm 111:2 English Standard Version), time spent pondering the historical gems and insights that Tony offers in this volume will be well rewarded.

It will stir up in anyone a hunger for a closer walk with God and a passion to see His miracle-working power move again today to bless people and glorify Jesus.
