PREFACE

This book can work what may seem like magic in your life.

Magic is the production of effects by forces we do not yet understand. As you grow to appreciate the processes, they cease to seem magical, but they remain marvelous. Suppose someone from a distant century watched you using the Internet to retrieve information from a database half a world away, then exchange instant messages with a friend in another state, all the while listening to a symphony played by a full orchestra on a compact disc. Your visitor would be convinced that you were a world-class magician or sorcerer. It is because we have some notion of how these devices work that they do not seem magical to us.

All fundamental forces are, by their nature, unknown. Furthermore, all things are the products of mind, yet we do not really know what mind is. We cannot analyze it under a microscope, nor can we see it, but we can find out, nevertheless, how it works. Then we discover a hidden power that lifts us up and sets us on the high road to happiness, freedom, and peace of mind.

LAW 1

THE ASTOUNDING LAW OF CONTACT WITH THE COSMIC MIND

Prayer is always the solution. God is ... a very present helpin [time of] trouble (Ps. 46:1). We are told that we should pray, believing (Matt. 21:22), and we shall receive. If this is soand daily proofs surround usthen prayer is the greatest force in all the world.

No matter what the problem might be, no matter how great the difficulty or how complicated the matter seems to be, prayer can solve it and bring about a happy and joyous solution. After having prayed, you take whatever practical steps seem indicated, because your prayer will guide and direct your footsteps.

Prayer is contacting, communicating with, and aligning your thought with the Infinite Intelligence, which responds to the nature of your thought and belief. Prayer will bring forth whatever you want and need in your life, if you conform to the laws of your mind purposefully, sincerely, and righteously. Prayer constantly brings about the seemingly impossible and heals the so-called incurable. In the history of humankind, there is no conceivable problem that has not at some time been solved by prayer.

People of all ages, all countries, and all religions have believed in the miraculous power of prayer. God is no respecterof persons (Acts 10:34) and He is available to all people, regardless of their race, creed, or color. Those who have received marvelous answers to their prayers have either consciously or unconsciously given recognition, honor, and devotion to a responsive Infinite Intelligence that indwells all humans.

Remember that God is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, and is untrammeled by time, space, matter, or the vagaries of humankind. It is easy to see, therefore, that there can be no limit to the power of prayer, because with God all things are possible (Matt. 19:26).

THE MIRACLE OF PRAYER

More than sixty years ago, a man was convicted of murder in one of our western states. He was sentenced to be hanged. During the time between his trial and the date set for his execution, he discovered the love of God. He prayed that God would forgive him and spare him. The man had committed the murder for which he had been sentenced, but he had heard or read that God was the bad mans deliverer. He took this thought to heart and pondered it every day. When the day came and he was led to the gallows, the trap, which ordinarily would fall the moment it was released, jammed in place. The hangman and his assistants tried again and again to spring the trap, but it was of no use. Finally, the prisoner was led back to his cell. Eventually he was granted a reprieve. In later years he became a spiritual inspiration to his fellow prisoners.

The love of God indeed passes all understanding and illuminates the path we tread. The wonders and blessings of God know no end.

God does not condemn or judge any person. The Bible says: Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity... (Hab. 1:13). You pass judgment on yourself by the concepts and beliefs that you entertain. You are always choosing thoughts, and in that act you are passing judgment on yourself. God, however, sees you as perfect. The Perfect One cannot see imperfection. When you rise in consciousness to the point that you forgive yourself and cleanse your mind and heart, the past is forgotten. It becomes as if it never were.

So often, we are told that As you sow, so shall you reap. This is an oversimplification. Yes, reaping what you have sown is a law of the world, but only so long as you do not pray or meditate on the truths of God. No matter how awful the crime or how heinous the offense, it can be wiped away from the mind, together with all the punishment that would ordinarily follow. Mere affirmations and perfunctory prayer will not change matters, however. What is essential is a deep hunger and thirst for Gods love and peace, plus an intense desire to reform. It is this combination that has the power to wipe away the punishment that must otherwise follow destructive thinking.
