Karma is the universal law of cause and effect. You reap what you sow. You get what you earn. You are what you eat. If you give love, you get love. Revenge returns itself upon the avenger. What goes around comes around.
Literally, karma means action. Good action equals good karma. Bad action equals bad karma. Each individual is solely responsible for his or her own actions, and every action will produce a reaction equal in every way to the suitability of the action.
Karma is justice. It does not reward or punish. It shows no favoritism because we have to earn all that we receive. Karma doesnt predestine anyone or anything. We create our own causes, and karma adjusts the effects with perfect balance.
Many people think theres nothing they can do to change their karmaits preordained so why bother trying to change their situation? This is what scares people. These folks think that to accept the reality of karma one must be passive. It simply isnt true. Karma is active. We canin the blink of an eyemake decisions that will shape our futures and transform the parts of our lives that are causing us unhappiness.
Think about karma as a bank. The Karma Bank is an impartial, honorable, incorruptible, infallible solid establishment. Every single person in the whole universe has an account in this colossal depository. Each time you perform a positive action, you add good karma to your account. Every negative action that you perform produces bad karma. The ultimate goal is to have your account in perfect balance. When this is achieved, you will have mastered your karma.
I have used my psychic gift to counsel people for over twenty years. In that time thousands of individuals have come to me for private sessions. Most of my work involves helping people identify their problems and, once those problems are acknowledged, suggesting solutions. I do not control anybodys fate. Ive spent a great deal of time reviewing the most prevalent issues on the minds of my clients, friends, and acquaintances. Whether the person is a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, an Oscar-winning actor, a lawyer, a psychiatrist, a Wall Street broker, a telephone operator, a secretary, a student, a mother, or a journalist, a common thread runs through everyones life. Individual circumstances vary, but the needs are similar: Everybody longs for health, love, security, and balance. However, the paradox is that too frequently people believe that these goals can be most effectively achieved through manipulating sex, money, and power. People come to me hoping that my psychic gifts can help them by predicting the best way to achieve their desires.
The main focus and passion of my work has always been, and remains, my one-on-one private consultations with people from all walks of life. Over the years my practice grew so large that it became impossible to see everyone who requested a private reading or healing. Something had to be done. Writing was the most practical way to share my knowledge and experience with a wider audience.
My first book, Love in Action, was inspired by a session with a client who told me, I came to you today because I am trying to find God. People came to me for many reasons. A few came merely out of curiosity. Some had specific questions, such as, Will I marry my current boyfriend? Which job offer should I accept? or How many children do you see in my future? But this was the first time someone asked me to help him find God.
It was the end of the eightiesthe me generation. People were feeling empty, a deep spiritual void. In that book I shared my belief that the most direct route to God was through serving others in any way one could. A person did not have be Mahatma Ghandi or Mother Teresa in order to live a useful life. One did not have to be a do-gooder or a doormat in order to live a life of service. Every action performed to help another is a step closer to Godeach individual life is of equal importance. Love in Action presented the reader with a spiritual approach to freedom and happiness.
Life After Death was written because one out of two clients asked me to help them understand what happens when we die. Not since a war had history seen the tragic death of so many young men and women. In my opinion, depression leading to despair, illnesses like Parkinsons diseasewhich previously had been reserved for the elderlyand the AIDS epidemic were some of the most common reasons for peoples surging interest in the afterlife. Having the ability to psychically see visions of the afterlife gave me the firsthand experience to write this book. The continuing positive response to Life After Death proves to me that people can overcome the fear of the death, resulting in a greater appreciation for the sacredness of life.
And now Im writing The Power of Karma because at this time the most frequently asked questions by my clients, and at my lectures, concern the law of karma and how it has a direct impact on their daily lives:
1. Is everything in our lives predestined?
2. I do everything that I can to be a good person, so why is my life such a mess?
3. Will I ever find my soul mate?
4. Why did my mother die of cancer? She was the kindest person who ever lived.
5. I do all my bosss work, yet hes never grateful and earns twenty times what I do. Why is this happening to me?
6. I starve myself, go the gym, count every calorie, and Im still thirty pounds overweight. My doctor says my thyroids fine. Why is my body like this?
7. He swore he loved me. Why has he never called again?
8. Is it cheating if you have sex with someone on the Internet?
9. I went to an astrologer who told me I was born to be famous. When?
10. Do you believe in reincarnation? I had a past-life regression and was told that this was my last life on earth.
11. I want to leave my husband for my boyfriend. Will this come back to haunt me?
12. Why me? Am I paying for something I did in a past life?
Magazines, newspapers, TV, and the movies are using the word karma as often as they once used the phrase what goes around comes around or you get what you deserve. A word that many people believe fits only into an Eastern or New Age vocabulary has become an absolute part of our vernacular.
It became crystal clear to me that an explanation of karma, reincarnation, predestination, and free will was desperately needed. The fantasy that things happen to us by chance, by the luck of the draw, that we live only one life, that some omnipotent force makes choices for us, and that we have no power to make decisions for ourselves had to be dispelled.
