Praise for Scott Morriss
Health Care You Can Live With
Nobody is better positioned to speak with both informed authority and compassion about the wrenching problem of establishing genuine health care for all Americans. His lively and seasoned presentation will appeal to every interested reader. More to the point, perhaps, is the fact that Morriss words should be required reading for every single personpolitician, cleric, social worker, insurance executive, physician, or medical administratorwhose work in any way impacts health in this country.
P HYLLIS T ICKLE , author of The Great Emergence
I have seen many faith-based programs around the world, and the Church Health Center is one of the most impressive. So impressive, in fact, that I made it the centerpiece of a chapter in a book called What Good Is God? Scott Morris answers that question not with abstract argument but with creative, compassionate service. His story is thrilling, and if more people followed his example the contentious health care debate would fall silent.

Whats So Amazing about Grace and The Jesus I Never Knew
Dr. Morris has done the seemingly impossiblecreated a thriving health care clinic for the working uninsured, funded by volunteers and the faith community. His vision, as well as his passion for redefining wellness, completely changes the paradigm of how we look at health care. This book is a must read for everyone of faith.

This clear, accessible book invites us to clothe ourselves and our medical practice in the generous truth of the gospel. This book is a must because our old ways have failed and new ways rooted in holy truth are on offer.
W ALTER B RUEGGEMANN , Professor Emeritus, Columbia Theological Seminary
Dr. Morris fully embodies the biblical mandate to preach, teach, and heal, but words in this book are more healing than teaching or preaching. Buy several copies of this book, for there is much wisdom in these chapters that you will want to share with others.

You wont find another book like this. While there are books on the politics of health care and books about spiritual life, there are few books that bring body and spirit together in such a down-to-earth way. Dr. Morris writes from years of experience providing health care for thousands of working people without health insurance. His stories alone are worth readingbut even more, you will find tangible ways to become healthier and more fully alive. Hes not embarrassed to talk about faith nor is he nave when he says that health is more than the absence of disease. Its not false advertising to say that this book can change your life.

In Health Care You Can Live With, Dr. Morris guides us back to where real health begins and where we should have been heading all alongstraight to Gods Word. Its impossible to find abundant personal health or realize true national reform without the foundation of biblical principles. Not a new discovery, but the only way to recovery. Thankfully, Dr. Morris knows how to get there.

Acknowledgments
T his book has been more than twenty years in its creation. It reflects my growing and evolving understanding of health during the life of the Church Health Center in Memphis, Tennessee. Literally hundreds of people have contributed ideas to the process. Some who are no longer alive or working with us had important insights. To all who have been a part of the creation of this work, I am grateful.
I am especially thankful for the directors of the Church Health Center and our Wellness staff, and for our volunteers and donors who make the work possible. Mike Sturdivant and Jenny Bartlett-Prescott have championed our process of integrated health, with key leadership from Mary Cay Oyler and her staff. Clinically, David Jennings and Mary Nell Ford have seen endless patients over the years while I was out raising money or running my mouth. Our entire medical staff has eagerly embraced a new way of providing health care to our patients. Karen Wright works as my administrative assistant and has been critical to many of the details in this process. Administratively, Ann Langston has stood beside me for twenty-five years with her love of our mission.
