First, I want to thank the Lord Jesus Christ for inspiring me to write this book. On September 26, 2013, at 2:33 am, the Lord revealed to me the subject of health and wellness in our spiritual lives. Being led by the Spirit of God, it was my endeavor to respond writing a book about the need to develop our spirit, soul, and body in the spiritual principles in the Word of God. This book is to the glory of God for his loving mercies and blessing in my life through my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I want to thank the greatest thing that ever happened to me is my beautiful wife Tonya, who has supported me from the beginning when I told her that the Lord inspired me to write about our spiritual and natural health that is essential to living a good life. I want to also thank God for our beautiful daughters, Victoria and Alivia, for bringing so much joy into our lives.
I want to thank my best friends, Audras and Patricia Nixon, who prayerfully supported me that the project would be successful. I will always be grateful for their words of encouragement.
I want to acknowledge some special people who had a major impact on teaching me the Word of God. First, I want to thank my mother, she raised me to know the Lord. She taught me to study the Word of God and was the first teacher of my spiritual development as a young man. I cannot forget my longtime friend, spiritual mentor, Ronald Childress, who taught me how to understand the scriptures and how to properly apply the text to my life. I want to thank my brothers and sisters who have always supported me: Marc, Curtis, Jimmy, Andre, Jason, Nicole and Natalie I love you all so much!!! I want to thank my longtime friends Donovan and Penny Gibbs. Two special friends who went home to be with the Lord, my spiritual mother Henrine Adams (Patricia Nixons mother) she taught me so much, especially about living right and she always manage to tell what was right in love. Last but not least Bishop Harry L. Smith he was my spiritual father who supported me, mentored me and encouraged me when I was called to the ministry. I will always be thankful to you all and may God richly bless you!
Health and the health care industry have become major concerns in the United States for many years. During the twentieth century, we have seen an increase in health awareness and how essential it is for life. Everyone needs to attain some level of health because it is essential to how we function as humans and to live a life that is normal and enjoyable.
Consider the different health problems in this country. We are definitely in a health crisis, which is progressively getting worse. This country has seen a rise in many chronic and long-term physical and mental health problems. The numbers of people living with cardiovascular diseases, cancers, AIDS, and eating disorders have skyrocketed over the past fifty years. The mental and emotional damage of such long-term health problems has led to a society that is scrambling to address the countrys health crisis.
Since 9/11 there has been an increase in the numbers of our military suffering from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) because of war and other war-related injuries that have put a strain on our health care system, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs. This country proudly supports the war on terrorism, but weve had our military men and women come home without the ability to cope with life after multiple deployments, and now we have a serious problem. They come home with questions like how will I get treatment for my problems? Who will help me? What type of medical coverage will I be able to have?
When these soldiers are deployed, they are screened to see if they are fit for duty, but when they return home, they are screened to see if they are physically, mentally, and emotionally fit to return to normal life back home. This has led to an increase in domestic violence on many military installations, which in the past ten years has grown severe because service members have not gotten the preventive treatment they needed; nor do they receive adequate care and funding for their conditions. There is so much red tape and politics that confuses and frustrates many of our service members who have laid down their lives for this country. If this is happening to our own service members, imagine what is going on with people outside the military who cant afford health care.
People have needs, especially when it comes to health care and being able to afford it. Health care is a billion-dollar industry; so much money is used to fund all kinds of research for better medicine to handle certain health problems and conditions. When putting all of these issues into numbers, the statistics are astounding, especially the increase in the different types of health issues and the expenses for treatment that come with them. There are also the advertisements of many types of drugs that are being manufactured for some of these health conditions. Every day our society buys into this system to depend on these different types of medications for treatment which have been proven in some cases to be a cure, but the side effects of these medications are causing some serious issues. There have been many lawsuits, fines, and investigations because of these issues.
