Go ahead. Get passionate about the food you eat.
You dont have to hide it. You can love food and lose weight at the same time! The secret, which youll learn about in Love Food andLive Well, is to know when to have carrot cake and when its time for just a carrot.
For most dieters, food is the daunting factor that trips up our best intentions to lose weight and get fit. Let Chantel Hobbs teach you that food is not the enemy! Its our attitudes toward it that defeat us. Losing weight does not require being deprived of the foods you love and being forced to eat boring, tasteless meals, and left feeling hungry most of the time. Turn food into your ally by following Chantels 80/20 rule: A full 20 percent of the time, splurge on the foods you love and incorporate them into celebrations and social occasions. The remaining 80 percent of the time, choose food on the basis of delivering maximum fuel for your body and ultimate health. Simply by having freedom in what you eat, you can train yourself in self discipline and achieve sustainable weight loss, being free from food anxiety.
Using personal inventories, original recipes, food plans, and new, detailed exercises for strength training and aerobic fitness, Chantel will inspire you to live well in every area of life. What are you waiting for? Start the pursuit of a life lived well and healthy: body, mind, and spirit.

C ONTENTS
F OREWORD

You need to meet Chantel Hobbs.

Ill do my best, but it wont be the typical, surface-level introduction. Chantel is a mom, yes; and a loving wife, yes; and she now makes her living as a writer. All those things are wonderful, but not why you should meet her.

You should meet her because shes been there. And by there I mean here, for many of us. Here is a place where were utterly heartbroken. Were not who we want to be, frustrated with how we look and feel, maybe even disgusted. To know Chantel, you will know her story and how God took not only two hundred excess pounds from her body, but He took away much more in guilt and disappointment with herself.

So, like I say, shes been there. And shes seen what can happenwhat works in our relationship with food and what doesnt. And shes experienced how God sees us, which is so much more clearly than we see ourselves.

Shes an expert, yes, but shes not just an expert. In Chantel, you have much better.

You have a friend.

Experts can be wonderful, of course. So wonderful, in fact, that they inspire you to just give up. Theyre too awesome, too amazing, too together, and too unapproachable. You spend time with them, and youre left impressedbut only with them. Youre left depressed about yourself.

As youll find in this book, Chantel is just the opposite. When she joins me on my radio show, we are flooded with callers. And to each one, shes unfailingly patient and compassionate. She listens and she nods, because shes been where they now are. She knows why theyre calling, and thats not for mere advice: theyre looking for hope.

Make friends with Chantel, and she will point you to Hope.

A CKNOWLEDGMENTS

Friends, this book was written out of my own desperate need for the deal of a lifetime!

To my husband, Keith: Babe, thank you for giving me the space for God to do what only He can do. I adore watching you be daddy to our children. The way you love me could never be compared

To my daughter Ashley: As you venture into young adulthood, I feel blessed to call you my teenager. Your heart for the least of these is a beautiful thing to witness. We cant wait to watch God continue to reveal His unique will for your life.
