FOREWORD
It was a cool fall day. The late morning sun was directly overhead. The air was predictably dry, but it was warm enough that the sweat was starting to bead on our foreheads after just a few hundred yards and no gain in elevation. The only shadows seen were from the tallest of the saguaro cacti that lined the winding path as it disappeared in the distance on its way to the top of Camelback Mountain.
This was an exciting day for all of us. We hadnt met in person before, but we bonded over our mutual interest in human potential, balanced living, a desire to live life differently, and a deep desire to have a positive impact on the world.
One of the biggest advantages of working from home is that this (today, a hiking trail in Phoenix, Arizona) is our boardroom and todays dress code consisted of comfy activewear and a good pair of shoes.
There are two options when hiking Camelback Mountain, both challenging, however one distinctly more challenging than the other. Martha picked the more challenging one. Having lived in the valley for years, I knew this was the right choice. Yes, its more challenging, but the view is better, the experience is more memorable, and its the fastest way to the top.
By picking up this book, you, too, made the right choice. Many of you feel a tug to do more. You understand that you are designed by God for greatness and a purpose but dont know where to start. You feel pulled to explore your creative side, to accomplish great things, and to serve others with your gift. For some of you fear is holding you back. For others its lacking confidence or a deep belief that you have what it takes. For many its finding the time. Still others feel you need a tactical to-do before making the leap or taking your existing business to the next stratosphere. Good news, this book helps with all four and more.
This concise read is the fast path to the top. In a noisy world of distractions, Martha serves as your trusted guide and leads you step by step up the path to home business success. She helps you avoid wrong turns, and keeps you on track, because she has been there before. Not only on her own journey to home-based business success but she has successfully guided thousands up the path as well.
You will feel your confidence grow as you turn each page. Its as if you have an unconditionally loving friend, and your biggest encourager right at your side as you boldly pursue your dream.
No one gets up a big mountain alone. It is done with a community. Welcome to this community. We are excited to see you apply what you learn in the pages to come as you do the work to use your gift to serve others. A better you makes a better world. See you at the top!

CHAPTER ONE Getting What You Really Want
I was working my leadership role at my corporate job, rising through the ranks, as one is supposed to do. Then I quickly found out I was actually making less money as I rose in the ranks. Because I was in sales, when I moved into management, I automatically took a pay cut as I was no longer making commissions. I was making less money and starting to feel more anxious. I saw my paycheck every two weeks, and I knew in my position I was never going to get more than that. MAYDAY!
I think every budding entrepreneur is always asking, How do I get more? Thats why a lot of us end up in sales. I saw this check week after week, and when I looked at it, I felt stuck. I was stuck.
Now lets add onto that the fact that I experienced panic attacks about twenty times a day. Once they started, they went through twenty-minute cycles and just kept happening. For me, I literally thought I was dying during these attacks. My left arm would go numb, my hearing would go away, my vision would black out from the outside in, and I would get a metal taste in my mouthall of it. Once when I lived alone, I went outside my apartment and sat on the stairs so in case I died, somebody would know. The stress just kept compounding, and I was exhausted. Needless to say, it was BAD.
One day at my desk I heard a message notification on my phone. I thought it was from my husband. We couldnt have our phones out on the calling floor, so I went to the bathroom to take it, because thats what you do when you cant keep your phone on the calling floor, right? I went into the bathroom and, I kid you not, it was a video of my daughter taking her first steps. Everything stopped. It was like one of those Hollywood movies where everything went silent.
My husband and I went through a lot to have our baby, Norah. Pokes and prods and medical interventionI mean we REALLY wanted her. Our belief in having a child was that she was here to bless us as parents, but more than that, she was here to bless the world as a whole. Our job was to make sure shes able to live from her heart; that was really important for us. I wanted her to be able to do that, but I wasnt able to model it. It was soul-crushing to not be able to show her what that looks like, because thats what I wanted for her. But if I couldnt show it to her, she wouldnt really see it and couldnt really know it was available to her. I mean, at the end of the day, kids mimic their parents, right? And I wasnt satisfied with what I was giving her to mimic.
