Dedication and Acknowledgments
To my dearly loved grandparents, Edward and Myrtle McNally, who believed in me and my dreams and never once discouraged me from discussing unpopular topics like ghosts. Their faith in me endures beyond eternity, and I am very grateful to have been their daughter of the heart.
To my husband, Dan, who listens patiently and believes.
To Butch: my heavenly angel, my guide, always there in spirit with encouragement, advice, and some great ideas. From Atlantis to eternity your love sustains me always. LUV you forever, babe.
To our sweet cat, Pretty, who as always spent lots of time purring at me as I was writing this book. Also to our much loved garage cat, Gentleman TJ Gold: thanks for showing up in our lives. We love you both so much!
To Amy Glaser and everyone at Llewellyn Worldwide: thank you for everything you do.
My deepest gratitude is offered to those who have mentored me in this lifetime and put me on the life path I was meant to follow.
To the souls I have met and re-met on my present life path, who have shared love and friendship with me in other times and placesI thank you for being with me again. To those who were my enemies and adversaries in another time and place and who have shown up in my present, I also thank you. You have taught me valuable lessons I will never forget about forgiveness, acceptance, and letting go. Go in peace, and may the lessons we learned erase the karmic debt that once attached us.
To all those who wonder at the incongruity of lifethe so-called chance meetings and random events, both good and not so good: may this book be a beacon that dispels the darkness and allows a new way of thinking and believing to enter your hearts and minds.
Foreword
Have you ever felt as if youve visited a particular place before, even though its your very first time there? Or perhaps you have felt attracted to, or repelled by, a particular time periodor even a particular person. And have you ever wondered why so many children seem to have extraordinary talents, such being able to play a musical instrument without ever having taken one lesson?
If the answer to any of the wonderings above is yes, then you may be dealing with a life spent in another time and place. And that child with remarkable abilityhe or she may be simply exhibiting a skill from another lifetime.
For some of us, details of past lives trickle in through our dreams when we are deeply asleep. Others utilize a technique or therapy, such as past-life regression. And some of us seem just to know that we have lived before, and this knowledge comes to us at a very young age. There are entire books and websites devoted to children who remember their past lives.
Young children, often as soon as they are able to speak and while still in diapers, will talk about their other parents or other homes. So me are able to remember their names and the names of family members in those other lives. Many recall exactly how they died in either a recent or distant time period. These children recall their past lives often with such emotional maturity and vivid detail that they prove to researchers all over the world that this is a phenomenon worth looking into. These young children are so much more socially unconditioned than adults and will often speak of their other lives in a factual tone. They will preface such memories with I remember when I died and/or lived before or When I was a grown-up last time and had children, their names were Many times the information they give is verified by well-known professionals.
If we accept what these gifted children tell us, we can never look at them in the same light again. We can no longer view them as inferior to us simply because they are young. They are no longer tiny biological beings shaped by heredity and environment. They are souls encased in a physical body who have lived and loved, known joy and hardship, raised children of their own and then died, and their souls have returned to life in new bodies. They bring in wisdom to us collected from those other lifetimes, and they have so much to teach us if we will listen.
Over 60 percent of the people in the world believe in some form of reincarnation. It might be a natural assumption that it is only Buddhists and Hindus who believe, but would it surprise you to know that one out of every four Americans believes that souls do return again and again in different bodies? Reincarnation offers a system of justice and balance in a world that can otherwise seem at times random, cruel, or unfair. It offers an explanation as to why one child might be born into a happy, healthy home with loving parents, while another child is born into a destructive third-world country, orphaned, neglected, and fighting for her life.
