to the Seekers of Truth

I was asked to write this foreword by my publisher, Hay House, because I had told Reid Tracy, the president of Hay House, what a huge fan I was of Dick Sutphen. Id listened to his hypnosis audios and lectures for more than a decade, and I even had the pleasure of meeting him in person at a small workshop he conducted in New York. In fact, Dick joined a small group of us for lunch during the workshop and was kind, present, grounded, and simply lovely to be around.

And as saddened as I was about his passing, I was happy to hear Hay House would continue to share his message and powerful work. When Hay House approached me knowing I loved Dick, I did a double take when I saw the book they wanted me to comment on was about... reincarnation?

Id actually read this book 10 years ago and loved it, but was I the right person to talk about reincarnation, to set you, the reader, up for this reading experience? What could I say about it? Like many people, I vacillate between thinking about the world in real, materialistic terms and thinking about the world in magical, quantum, everything is possible terms. Thats what went through my mind as this request came in, and then I remembered... there was that one experience...

When my wife, Brenna, and I were planning to be married, we found a wonderful lady, Shira, to conduct the ceremony. And as part of her process she suggested we do a past-life regression about our relationship just to see what might come up.

We both did it separately and didnt talk to each other in between sessions. I remember sitting there, going through a relaxation process, and hearing Shira say, Youre getting more and more relaxed, deeper and deeper... (like much of Dicks audio work!). Then Shira asked me some questions about where I was, what I saw, and so forth.

I was sure I was making everything up. I was relaxed and felt very present in the room and my body, but I didnt really see anything. I told Shira the date (1838) and that I was 43. I pictured myself on a ship, looking out the small portholes, feeling like I didnt want to be there and that I was being pulled away. I just blurted out random things, and part of me felt like I was saying them just to get this whole thing over with!

Brennas session? The date is 1830 and shes 35 (thus matching our ages). Nick keeps going off on a ship and even though we want to be together, we cant be.

Wow.

Thats all it was, but... wow. Could it be true? Could we have been together, or tried to be together, in that life? Could love and these relationships be the cord that binds us life after life? And could the fact that I was asked to write this foreword, for this book, when Reid and Hay House had never heard that story, be a total coincidence?

Ill let you decide. Ill let you read this wonderful book and its stories about love through the ages (which are told in much more riveting detail than my little experience). My belief is that after you read this book, youll look at life with a bit more of the magical, quantum, everything is possible viewpoint. And I believe that viewpoint will allow you to love more deeply, forgive more quickly, and feel at peace in your body and your life.
