In the first chapter of this book, Dick talks about the phenomenon of psychic migration, which perfectly illustrates how I, too, was called to Sedona. My husband and I were living in Canada at the time. I was a new author at Hay House, and after a speaking event in Las Vegas, my husband and I spontaneously decided to go to Sedona. Neither of us had been there, although I had been having powerful dreams of the red rocks and the canyons. I knew I was drawn there. We went for a holiday adventure, and as we entered the town, I felt something so intense. Looking back, I liken it now to a super strength magnetic tractor beam, telling me to be there, to live thereto pack up and move there. It was the strangest feeling, and I couldnt shake it.

There was some purpose for us to be there, although I had no idea what it was. Sedona is remoteroughly two hours away from the Phoenix airportand we were Canadian citizens, so we could not just up and move there! But I could not get it out of my mind. We visited some of the vortexes and I had a number of elevated experiences meditating, similar to an experience I had in Glastonbury, England, another sacred place. I kept seeing the terrain the way it was without the houses, the way it was in its original form, in my peripheral vision. I also was struck by the emotional intensity of Sedona. Everything was exaggerated. As a psychic medium, I expected to experience something, but not to the extent I did. I knew I was on some kind of energy grid, without knowing anything specific. I could see waves wafting over the land, like a ribbon of electricity, of a life force that wasnt like anything I had ever experienced or could put language to.

After our first visit, which in retrospect was more like an initiation, we returned to Canada and within months, against all odds, we had US visas that enabled us to move.

Just like that, we took our place with the many people from all over the world who would say the very same things when asked how they came to live in Sedona: I dont know why I came, I was called here. I just knew I had to come. I came once then knew I had to come back to live. The psychic migration is a collective calling and comes with a hefty price tag. You must do your inner work, face your shadows, and be of service, or you will watch the red rocks remove all that doesnt work in your life without your consent. The challenge is real. Everyone who has ever lived there knows this well.

I came to understand each vortex was different, like they had their own purpose, even their own personalities. For example, a meditation at Bell Rock, my favorite hiking vortex, was vastly different from Boynton Canyon. Bell Rock was electric yet soft, grounded and often hopeful, whereas Boynton Canyon always felt serious, challenging, and all encompassing. We lived very close to Cathedral Rock, where the energy was feminine, creative, and strong yet flexible. I really understood the nature of channeling while living there. I completed my book Messages from Spirit in Sedona; my oracle deck Wisdom of the Hidden Realms came as a result of a series of dreams I had there; and my book The Map was incubated there, too. Sedona made me a prolific writer and creator. I felt its magic weave its way through me every day. Sedona truly has a purpose, a destiny for each person called there.

We all come to be changed, to be healed, and then sharpened in some way through the seductive mystery of this place. Sedonas powerful energy is like being inside a cosmic vibration upgrade, both brilliant and enlightening and wildly disruptive. Theres a saying, Sedona will draw you in, then when she is finished with you, shell spit you out, and it is more than true. I loved it there until the day it was time to move on. I am always grateful for the experience there. Back in Canada now, Sedona still reaches into my spirit once in a while and my heart remembers.

On a recent visit, I stood in line at one of the local grocery stores, and I was struck by the synchronicities. As I overheard their conversations I wondered about the spiritual adventure calling each person that I observed standing there, in urgent and meaningful conversation, as I once did. I was amazed at how and why they got there.
