This book is a small sketch of a sixteen hour bible study on the end time. It is intended to bring comfort to the reader. Fear is the devils weapon, our God is a God of peace and love. Jesus came to set us free. It is up to us to step into that freedom, and to learn to walk in that freedom. Our reverence for God and his holiness will set us apart from the world. You are Gods favorite, and so am I, we walk in that favor. Mercy is good, but favor is better, lets walk in his favor.

Chapter 1

What You Have Seen and What Is Now

Many people say, Stay out of the book of Revelation, you cant understand it.

The book of Revelation is not to be sealed; it is to be read and understood.

The book of Revelation is divided into three sections. In chapter 1 verse 9, John was told by the angel to write the things which you have seen, the things which are, and the things that will come after these things.

In Revelation 1, John writes the things he has seen, Christs resurrection.

In Revelation 2 and 3, John writes the things which arethe things concerning the church.

In Revelation 4 and onward, John prophesied those things which are to take place after the church is taken out of the world.

The important thing is to know who God is and who Jesus is. A fool says in his heart, There is no God. When we look at Jesus, we can understand what God is about.

This revelation, this unveiling of Jesus Christ to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass, was a joy to Jesus, who, for the joy set before him, endured the cross.

Revelation, to a great extent, is the joy that is set before Jesus, as the Father shows him the place he will have in the ages to come. Jesus is not overjoyed about the journey, but he will be happy when his bride is in heaven and evil has been put down on the earth.

The Father gave his revelation to Jesus. Jesus gave it to the angel, and the angel gave it to John, who gave it to the churches.

In Revelation 1:3 it says, Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who take to heart what is written, because the time is near.

There is a special message for each of the churches, but the letters were read in all of the churches.

There are a lot of interpretations of this book. We are not going to spiritualize this book. When you spiritualize the scripture, you remove any authority or teaching from it because everyone is free to interpret the spiritual allegory as he or she may desire, which can result in confusion.

John to the seven churches in the province of Asia; Grace and peace from him who is, and who was, and who is to come. From the seven spirits before the throne, and from Jesus Christ who is the faithful witness, the first born from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.

To him who loved us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and made us to be kings and priests to his God and Father, be glory and power forever, Amen. (Revelation 1:4-7)

The seven things we will see a lot through this book, I think its a God thing.

When John talks of the grace and peace that comes from God. When he tells of him who is, and who was, and who is to come, he is speaking of the eternal nature of God.

If we have seen Jesus, we have seen the Father. In the end all of the glory goes to the Father, and that should cut out the competition.

Look he is coming in the clouds,

and every eye will see him, even

those who pierced him, and the world will mourn because of him.

Rev 1:7.

I believe this mourning will be at the battle of Armageddon, when the armies of the Antichrist are surrounding Jerusalem. When they see Jesus coming in the clouds with the armies of heaven, there will be mourning. When Jesus comes for his church before the beginning of this tribulation, there will be shouts of joy.

While he was talking to his disciples, he was taken up before their very eyes, and the clouds hid him from their sight. They were looking up intently as he was going up, when two men dressed in white stood beside them. Men of Galilee they said, Why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way that you have seen him go into heaven. (Acts 1:9)

When Jesus comes again, it will not be a secret coming. The whole world will know that the Lord has returned. You wont have to travel to some high mountain.

John was on the island of Patmos. It was on the Lords Day.

On the Lords Day I was in the spirit, and

I heard behind me a voice like a trumpet,

which said: Write on a scroll what you see

and send it to the seven churches; To Ephesus,

Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardus,

Philadelphia, and Laodicea.

I turned around to see the voice that was

speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven

golden lampstands, and among the lampstands

was someone like the son of man, dressed

in a robe reaching down to his feet and with

a golden sash around his chest. Rev. 1: 10-13

In his right hand he held seven stars, and out

of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword.

His face was like the sun shining in all its

brilliance.

When I saw him I fell at his feet as though

dead, Then he placed his right hand on me and

said: Dont be afraid. I am the First and the

Last. I am the living one; I was dead, and

behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold

the keys of death and Hades. Rev 1: 17-18.

Here John sees Jesus in all of his glory alive forever and ever with the keys to death and Hades. If you are in the kings court and you have the keys, you have access to all of the kings treasure. You also have the keys to his house and control over who can enter to see the king. Jesus has the keys; he gave them to the church. We come to the king in Jesuss name. With those keys we have access to all of his treasure and to his house. They also come with some responsibility. Satan had these keys once, but he lost them through jealousy. We do not want to follow his pattern.

In chapter 1 verse 19 it says, Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later.

What he has seen is Jesus dead and risen to glory. Now is the church age, after these things, after the things of the churches, the tribulation, his return to earth, and his one-thousand-year reign.

In Revelation 1:20 it says, The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this; The seven stars are the angel of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

These angels are the messengers or the pastors of these seven churches, six of which John started.

To the angel of the church of Ephesus write: These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands: I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men. That you have tested those who claim to be apostles and are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and endured hardship for my name and have not grown weary.

Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen. Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come and remove your lampstand from its place. But you have this in your favor: you hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the spirit says to the churches, to him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. (Revelation 2:1-7)

I know your deeds, he says to each of the churches. Nothing is hidden from the one with whom we have to deal. You may be able to bluff it with man, but not with God.
