Introduction
Over the years, believers are taught to engage the force of fasting and prayer to break down strongholds and secure divine intervention. Yes, I believe in the power of prayer, and even Jesus taught us to pray and equally instructed us to pray ceaselessly. However, the Scripture is replete with other spiritual weapons of war that most believers hardly engage. One of such is worship.
Everybody worships; its a question of what or who. Worship is one of the most used words in the Body of Christ today. To some, it is just a church word mentioned when its time to sing. To others, its an action to commence a Christian gathering. This misguided ideology of worship has relegated its potency to the background in our overall Christian experience.
I love Psalm 22:3; it says, But you are holy, you who inhabit the praises of Israel. Did you see that?
Worship is a quick way to usher in the Majesty of God into your situation and circumstance. And when the Monarch of the Universe steps in, expect every contrary situation to step out unannouncedawesome! Worship is the deepest dimension of intimacy between God and man. What more, when Jesus came, He revealed to us in John chapter 4 that the Father is seeking men and women, male and female, boys and girls from every nation, tribe, and race who will worship Him as a lifestyle. Amazing!
However, understanding is vital to enjoying the blessings of the kingdom. The Psalmist said, give me understanding, and I shall live (Psalm 119:144). This goes to show that our level of understanding of kingdom principles determines our fruitfulness. And there is no greater void in the Body of Christ today than a declined hunger for understanding.
That is why Ive carefully written this book. I seek to fill up the void that has kept many saints from living a life of acceptable worship to the Father.
You see, we are created as worship-beings. The Bible clearly says in Isaiah 43:21, This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise. The true essence of the breath of the Almighty in our body is to praise Him. A.W. Tozer once said, Without worship, we go about miserable. And that is the challenge today. A lot of people think they can get satisfaction from things, titles, and possessions. But even after all that, there still remains an unfillable emptiness in them that only true worship can fill. Charles Spurgeon also said, Nothing teaches us about the preciousness of the Creator as much as when we learn the emptiness of everything else.
The encounter between Jesus and the Samaritan woman in John chapter 4 illustrates this better. She told Jesus of their usual and regular journey to Jerusalem to worship the Father, yet when she met Jesus, she still had a desperation to be filled with the fullness of God. She eventually appeals in John 4:15, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. Friend, only a U-turn to the right order of worship can make up for the lack of joy and fulfillment that permeates mens hearts today.
Therefore, get set for a new light. Get set to know the truth that sets free. Get set for a launch into a life of joy full of unspeakable glory. Get set for a spiritual inoculation and transplant of divine truth that can set you free.
I know you may be in an unpleasant situation that has defiled all medication. Perhaps you are indebted to the tune of millions of dollars, and you dont seem to know the way out. Or maybe some circumstances of life have weighed you down. I congratulate you because you are holding the book that proffers a solution that may have defied all odds.
Worship looks too simple but carries divine potency that can clear off barriers on your path if engaged in truth and by faith. Perhaps no story in the Bible better illustrates the power of ordered worship than Paul and Silas in the book of Acts chapter 16. These men were arrested and due for execution for preaching the Gospel. But the night before their execution, these men knew better. Despite their situation, the Bible says they prayed, but when it seems their desired result wasnt forthcoming, they switched the gear completely to praises rather than giving up and complaining. Eventually, in Act 16:26, the ible says, And suddenly there was a great earthquake so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyones bands were loosed. Hallelujah !
Its easy to sing when the chains are off; its easy to dance when the doors have opened in our favor, but whats your response when the chips are down? These two giants of faith demonstrated that when you desire to clear off limitations, you should engage in true worship of God.
What more, worship is not limited to singing and dancing. Oh yes! What are the other dimensions of worship? Lets dive in as the Holy Spirit begins to expound in our hearts the efficacy of ordered worship and the accompanying blessings.
Chapter One
My Transformation Experience
Id like to start this life-changing book by first sharing with you some background information about me.
I was born in a home where Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit, was already the master of the house. You know, one of those families where going to church was a norm, where all of you grew up to know just one pattern of life. The side of life I was exposed to growing up was those homes where we all wake up daily and gather together as a family, and say some prayers to God, and read few verses of Scripture. Well, most times, I attended the morning devotion half-awake with heavy eyes. I guess you can relate.
My parents are Presbyterian Christians. When I was growing up, people would come to our house very early in the morning to pray. At the time, I was four years old and would always sleep in the sitting room. When these people came to our house to pray, I would join them since my bed was in the parlor, and I would be unable to sleep again while they are praying to God.
