He Alone Is Worthy is a devotional that uses the Word of God to inspire and stimulate prayer. Jesus is the Living Word-He lived out the Word of God as he walked among us over 2000 years ago. We can be sure we are praying in his name when we use the scriptures for prayer. Jesus promises when we ask anything in his name, we will receive the perfect answer from the Father. Jesus, the Father, and the Holy Spirit alone are worthy of our praise and our prayers. The author hopes these scriptures and prayers will be an inspiration to the reader to discover scriptures that are appropriate to their own needs and offer their own heartfelt prayers up to the Lord because He Alone Is Worthy.

Repentance, Forgiveness, Salvation

THE GOD OF OUR SALVATION

Scripture:

Help us, O God of our salvation! Help us for the honor of your name. Oh, save us and forgive our sins for the sake of your name. Psalm 79:9

Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Psalm 25:5

For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved For anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Romans 10:9,13

Application:

How blest we are to have a wonderful God who saves us! He has provided the way to have our sins forgiven through Jesus Christ, our Lord. When we call on His name, believing in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, we glorify our God who has done it all for His honor and our benefit.

Prayer:

Thank you, O God of our Salvation, that you have provided us a name, which is above all names, and you will always hold up the name of Jesus; that we may know where our salvation comes from. We put our hope in no one else but you, Lord. We confess that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, and that you raised him from the dead. Holy Spirit, keep these truths alive in our hearts, minds, and spirits. We love you, O God of our Salvation. Amen.

JESUS, THE SAVIOR OF ALL

Scripture:

I love you, Lord; you are my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the strength of my salvation; and my stronghold. I will call on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, for he saves me from my enemies. Psalm 18:13

0 Sovereign Lord, my strong savior, you protected me on the day of battle. Psalm 140:7

And it was one of King Davids descendants, Jesus, who is Gods promised Savior of Israel! Brothersyou sons of Abraham, and also, all you devout Gentiles who fear the God of Israelthis salvation is for us! Acts 13:23,26

Application:

Jesus is Savior. Jesus is our Shield. Jesus is our Stronghold. Jesus is Sovereign. Jesus is ever faithful and can never be taken away from those who run to Him and call upon His name. No enemy can destroy us; even Satan when we put our trust in King Jesus.

Prayer:

O Lord, our Savior, we come gratefully before you. You are the rock that gives strength to our salvation. Thank you that we need never fear that the enemy of our souls can take away our salvation. You have secured it for us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Holy Spirit, be our shield when Satan tries to discourage us with his lies. We hide ourselves in the fortress of your love. We are ever thankful that you freely give salvation to anyone who asks and anyone who places their trust in Jesus. We praise and honor you Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit. Amen.

THE LORD IS THE LIGHT OF OUR SALVATION

Scripture:

The Lord is the light of my salvation - so why should I be afraid? The Lord protects me from danger - so why should I tremble? Psalm 27:1

I wait quietly before God, for my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. Psalm 62:1,2

For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with self-control, right conduct, and devotion to God. Titus 2: 11, 12

Application:

When everything around us seems to grow darker and darker, the light of God grows brighter and brighter. His light will guide our steps. His light also shines on our sins and points out any evil within us that must be confessed. He doesnt leave us alone, but He gives us His Spirit to strengthen us so we may live lives that are pleasing to Himlives of self-control, holy choices, and devotion to Him.

Prayer:

Dearest Jesus, we admit that we often cause our own danger in this life. We like to keep one foot in the world and the other in your kingdom. We know from experience that when we try to enjoy sinful pleasures, we find that we dont really enjoy them and they certainly dont bring us lasting pleasure. Holy Spirit, we need your guidance, correction, and discernment. Forewarn us before we lose self-control and fall into sin. God of our salvation, we want to hide ourselves in you. We want to come into your fortress and be protected from all the evil around us. Thank you that you desire to save us from ourselves and from the evil one. We call upon your grace and your love to surround us. May we always be devoted to you, Lord; giving you the thanks and praise that you deserve. Amen.

HEALING AND SALVATION

Scripture:

You, O God, are my king from ages past, bringing salvation to the earth. Psalm 74:12

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, Leaders and elders of our nation, are we being questioned because weve done a good deed for a crippled man? Do you want to know how he was healed? Let me clearly state to you and all the people of Israel that he was healed in the name and power of Jesus Christ from Nazareth, the man you crucified, but whom God raised from the dead There is salvation in no one else! There is no other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save them Acts 4:812

Come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us give a joyous shout to the rock of our salvation! Psalm 95:1

The Lord lives! Blessed be my rock! May the God of my salvation be exalted! Psalm 18:46

Application:

We all need healing: physical, emotional, or spiritual. We all need salvation because we cannot save ourselves. Jesus is the only healer. Jesus is the only savior. He embodies all we need to live in this life and the life to come. When we put our trust in Him, we are completely healed and completely saved for all eternity.

Prayer:

We sing and shout with the psalmist and with all those who have gone before us: the disciples and all the saints in Heaven. You are a forever God. You have always existed and will always existthe Alpha and the Omega. Thank you, Lord, that from ages past, you planned our salvation. You alone can bring salvation to this earth through your Son, Jesus Christ. We continually thank you and praise you for this wonderful gift you have given us. Holy Spirit, make the truth of salvation live in our hearts and spirits, so that we are quick to speak of it to others and constantly live it out in our lives. We bless you and praise you our Triune God. Amen.

TRUE REPENTANCE

Scripture:

Have mercy on me, 0 God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out my sins. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. For I recognize my shameful deeds - they haunt me day and night. Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just. Psalm 51 :14

Application:

This prayer of David was a prayer of a truly repentant heart. Perhaps, that is why God said of David, He is a man after my own heart. David had sinned greatly, but he recognized that his sin was not only against Bathsheba and Uriah (2Samuel11), but more precisely against God who had entrusted him with the kingdom of Israel. In our confession, God wants, even demands that we agree with him that what we have done is wrong, sinful, and evil. David acknowledged that the Father was right in His judgment against him. His prayer of confession is a good model for us to follow.

Prayer:

Father God, how we identify with David as he poured out his heart to you. Every one of us have sinned against you in thought, word, or deed. We have even sinned in what we have left undone. Father, even after we confess and believe we are forgiven, we can sometimes be haunted and shamed by what we have done in the past. Thank you, Holy Spirit, that you are quick to remind us of our forgiveness by the blood of Jesus. Thank you, Father, that you are also quick to forgive us when we sin again and agree with you about our sin. We could not ask for a more just judge, Lord. Jesus sacrificed all that we might have such immediate relief from our guilt. It is by His precious blood that we can ask and receive your forgiveness and righteousness. We know how undeserving we are, and that is what makes our hearts so grateful to you. We sing your praises our righteous and perfectly fair Judge. Amen.
