Closer to Heaven

Ms Lang provides a how-to guide for Creating Heaven on Earth by incorporating her Ten Principles into an easy-to read novella. Bens story portrays our own flaws that cause our suffering and self-defeating behaviors. Bens angel, Daniel, provides him (and the reader) effective cognitive and behavioral strategies all with a strong spiritual underpinning. Closer to Heaven is worth years of therapy.

Corry Langs book, Closer to Heaven , takes the reader on a journey revealing the secrets of living a joyful life. She provides the reader with principles that will enable one to grow their innate wings and create heaven on Earth. In a wholistic manner she explores both attitudes towards oneself and attitudes towards the environment. These include non-violence, truthfulness, non-stealing, fidelity, non-coveting, purification, contentment, and dedication to the Divine. In a most intriguing and entertaining way, this book presents the fictional life of a person as they experience the depths of despair that life may present all the way to the bliss of a life well-lived. How and why form the basis of the book with insights and practices as well. The book is well worth reading, highly recommended.

John Grimes, Ph.D., Professor of Indian Studies and Philosophy, Researcher, Author of thirteen books, primarily on Advaita Vedanta (school of Hindu Philosophy and one of the classic Indian paths to spiritual realization).

Corry Langs book compelled me to become more impeccable in my word the words I say to myself and to others - particularly the words I use concerning awareness, mindfulness and compassion. This is her first book, and one that will warm the hearts of the many people who seek more meaning in their lives and guidance for pursuing it.. Heres to observing and noticing... what we miss and what we add on to our moment-to-moment experiences of life, whether on a trail in the woods or in a city caf . Read itits a page-turnerand you will evolve. Yes, you can empty, start anew, and create something you never imagined!

Corry Langs writing is like listening to a friend who just got back from an enlightening journey. As they tell you about their experiences, you somehow grow with them throughout their story. Closer to Heaven rings a bell of familiarity that makes you feel related and vulnerable to the characters and their perspectives. As you read along, youll find yourself applying the principles in this book noticing how your awareness, your attachments, and how present you can be construct the fabric of your reality. This book is an entertaining tool for the soul to recognize itself in your story. It helped me to be more aware of things, of being present, or not being attached. Thank you for sharing it with me. Its a great book! And it's something that's applicable and useful in people's lives.

Adam Turner, Video Designer & Production Supervisor

Corry Langs first novel Closer to Heaven is based on her own yoga practices and life coaching principles. She outlines ten rules that will help you live a more balanced and peaceful life. Her book is thought provoking and inspiring. Corry outlines her principles in an enjoyable story of a downtrodden man who succeeds to turn his life around.

Andrea Harris , Qualcomm San Diego Manager/Senior Staff

I really liked the relationship between the two male friends. There was love and intimacy and connection and this could be empowering for our communities in the way that men relate to one another. It was a simple yet gentle process. There is one principle per chapter, emotionally relatable, and they can be applied to life. Each chapter is complete and they also build on each other to create a whole bigger picture. I felt that reading this book was an opportunity of seeing into another's way of being. It was inviting, accepting, not preaching at all, but tolerant and non-judgmental. Corry Lang isnt trying to convert but inclusive and tolerant. For people who are new to this (higher consciousness) reading this book could be a gentle and comprehensive way to help shift the masculine, patriarchal perspective. Its a great read!

Wow! The first chapter instantly drew me in! Great writing, great story!! Corry Lang presents ten powerful lessons that really add a deeper perspective to the human experience all wrapped up in a light, fun, fast-moving narrative that is easy to absorb. The two main characters are relatable and well developed as the reader hears their thoughts, listens to their conversations, and views their interactions as they move through the ten lessons that Daniel must complete in order to "earn his wings back" and return to heaven. However, it is Ben who truly grows the most.

Taking her readers in and out of many different real life settings over the course of a week, the authors descriptions create the space and time for us to visually become immersed in the experience as Ben learns to apply each principle, proving that when we are open to change, it really can be that easy.

t was late at night when Ben got off the freeway. It had been another strenuous sales meeting in a faraway city. He wondered how much longer he would be able to do this. He was becoming less and less sure about the effectiveness and safety of his companys product and he was tired of offering it to the world.

He took his foot off the gas pedal and approached the stop light at the end of the off-ramp. The flight had been fine; hed had a couple of drinks and then slept most of the way. But he couldnt ignore the feeling of discontent that washed over him every time he came back home now. Somehow life had become meaningless again.

~~~
Just fifteen years earlier, he had been so sure he was making a difference. He had just completed his MBA, landed his first real job, was making good money, and had Michelle, the love of his life. They had just gotten married, she was pregnant, and they were moving into their first grown-up house. Life was good, and Ben was hopeful. Better yet, he had evidence: life was good.
Many years later, his outlook on life had changed. The job was hard and Ben worked a lot of extra hours. In the beginning he hadnt minded. He wanted to prove himself, and the salary was good. But after a while he realized that something was missing. He wanted to make a difference while he was on the planet, but somehow everything seemed to revolve around money. Money, power, and politics.
