INTRODUCTION

I am a modern mystic. This book is based onmy metaphysical travels, my enlightened experience of life, and abroader, far more profound perspective than comes from everydayliving. And yet, it is in everyday living that my insights are soapplicable.

This book offers insightsinto day-by-day life. I am offering a simple, occasionallyambiguous, yet always thought-provoking look at life. It is obviousthat I am a lover of aphorisms! In this book, all the aphorismscome from me. An aphorism is a short pithy wisdom, expressing aTruth. I have deliberately written Truth with a capital T, fortruth as it is expressed today often holds no Truth at all. Let medefine it this way: truth today is casual, a point of view, depending on how you perceive it. If you view our planet from theeyes of a high-flying eagle, you see a very different reality thanif viewed from the eyes of an earth-bound mouse. If you were askedto judge whose vision is the truth, you realise that truth is notrelevant, it is all about perspective.

What are my credentials? Iuse Truth in this book from the overview of a spiritually andholistically enlightened man, seeing life from a holisticviewpoint. There is no possible comparison between the experienceof Truth, and having a concept of it. The sum of bits of truth donot add up to Truth, for Truth has never been fragmented. Truth iswhole, constantly expanding in the unfolding moment of life.

Truth is not limited to athree-dimensional reality, nor is it contained by linear time, sowhen I write of Truth in this book, you may need to expand yourvision. If you have a concept of Truth, then live the concept.Either it will take you to the portal of Truth, or it will revealto you that the concept was based in falsity. There is a timing toTruth, and by living the concept you will precipitate the timing.Truth, however, is not intellectual, so the paradox is thatalthough Truth can be recognised by the intellect, the intellect isunable to experience Truth. And Truth is an experience.

When I write self in thesepages, I refer to the identity self, whereas when I write Self Irefer to the spiritual Who I Am Self. Equally with the word Love. When I capitalise Love, it indicates unconditional Love, or divineLove, or absolute Love, as opposed to I love my new car!

As you go through this bookyou will find that often I have repeated a particular theme, or Ihave reiterated it from several different viewpoints. This isdeliberate. Some of the aphorisms look at the same theme fromdifferent angles, each designed to strongly imprint that particularinsight into your consciousness. Some of the aphorisms follow atheme for a few days consecutively, while others are more random. If you find that you are strongly resisting a certain wisdom, thenyou can be sure that its truth is knocking on the door of yoursubconscious resistance.

This is not a book to be readat a sitting. As a day-by-day book, it is an inspirational, evencatalytic book, with the intention of drawing you, the reader, intoa deeper experience of life. It is my intent to open you in asubtle and caring way, thereby creating less resistance from yoursubconscious program of self-denial.

You will find that I oftenwrite about your movie of Life. This movie is about the Continuityof Self. Each frame of the movie is what we term a lifetime, andthere are very many frames. Identity-self sees life as asingle frame of the movie, whereas the Self you are relates to thewhole movie as life; your life. This is the greater holisticviewpoint. The illusions of life are created by believing that asingle linear time-frame is all life. In a greater reality themovie, The Continuity of Self is holistic, meaning, your wholelife - past and future - is expressing in this moment...now!

Before you begin, let me drawyour attention to one particular statement I have made often inthis book. Anything that you want to change, anything that offersvalue to your life, has to be lived to be actualised. Understanding thewords does not add up to change, but living what you understand gives bothsubstance and meaning to change.

And remember, no matter howyou try... you cannot change and remain the same!

JANUARY

Thought for the Month:

Most people believe in birth as the beginning and deathas the ending of their life on earth. This belief is part of lifesillusion, cradling the fears that are so common inhumanity.

Better to see life as endless continuity, ratherlike the frames in a reel of film. Each frame is a physicallifetime... and the movie of Self continues intoeternity.

January 1st

One year ending, and another beginning issimply a cyclical calendar event. Life is, and should be lived, asan endless spiral in the continuity of Self.

People are seduced by the passing years. Webelieve in them. We move from one year into the next so totallyunaware of our greater spiritual potential, of greater realities,of Self, that the years of our life just cycle along.

Cycles! Without our everrealising it, we are drifting along in one cycle after another. Anyreading of world history will convince you that war, famine, repression and tyranny all happen in fairly regular cycles of humanhistory. A cycle means more-of-the-same, endlessly repeatingitself, our human cycles separated only by the illusion oftime.

Make a New Year resolution toget off that cycle of sameness. You were born to live on theendless spiral of life. And a spiral never repeats itself. Resolveto spiral into newness this New Year. You can best accomplish thisby the simple everyday process of constantly and consciously...choosing Love!

Wisdom is the distillation of experience andintelligence.

Everyone has experience: everyone hasintelligence, yet not everyone has wisdom. I could be kind and saythat, yes, everyone has wisdom, but comparatively few people useit; it changes little!

Wisdom comes from anawareness of the little things of life. Wisdom knows that the bigthings of life are but a congregation of the little things.Collectively, this is experience.

To find your own wisdom, focus on life in the moment and live it without judgement. Realisethat life is an eternity event, and that you need to acquire aneternity view. A single life-frame in your life-movie gives a verylimited view of reality compared to holistically seeing the wholemovie, The Continuity of Self.
