I thank God that I have had the privilege of meeting Surprise Sithole. He walks in the greatest joy of any person I have ever met, and his story is the most amazing story I have ever heard. Through Voice in the Night, you now have the same privilege of listening to Surprises story.
Randy Clark, president and founder, Global Awakening; overseer, Apostolic Network of Global Awakening; founder, Global School of Supernatural Ministry
To my wonderful wife: You are my best friend, and my journey would have been truly lonely without you. Thank you for encouraging and supporting me to travel and spread the Gospel. You are one of Gods great gifts to me, and I love you very much.
To my boys, Enoch, Love, Israel and Blessing: I am proud of you, and I want to thank you for your love and for supporting me as much as you have. When I am away, I long to return to be with you, to have fun with you and to watch you grow strong in the Lord.
To Susan Partridge and her family: You have been like gold to me and to my family. Your words of encouragement and your prophetic words over my life have all been deeply accurate. Thank youthank you for walking with me on this journey in life, and thank you for your kindness. May the Lord give you long life. May He give you joy, and may you walk into your destiny. May the Lord lift you up. Amen.
S urprise Sithole is one of the most amazing individuals I have ever met. His closest friends say he is depression challenged , which is a humorous way of saying he is the happiest person we know. His story is a God story from beginning to end. It is filled with supernatural interventions in which God demonstrates who this wonderful man belongs to. And while he is quick to say his story is about the grace of his wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ, it rightfully includes the story of the man who said the absolute yes to God. And for this I am eternally gratefulgrateful to be able to watch a life poured out for the glory of God. Grateful to see God defend and protect one of His own so openly.
I love to hear the testimonies of Gods call upon a persons life. Both the Bible and our history books are filled with stories of peoples defining moments with God. They range from very subtle encounters all the way to the extreme; yet in His sovereignty God alone chooses how to manifest Himself to each person. I have noticed that the more extreme a persons initial call from God, the more challenging circumstances they will face in carrying out that call. One could not argue with this fact in the apostle Pauls life following his Damascus Road experience. The same is true with Surprise Sithole. The son of two witch doctors, he awoke one night to Gods voice commanding him to leave his house. And so the adventure began so many years ago, and the journey continues to this day. Seldom will you read of one so uniquely chosen by God as you will in Voice in the Night .
If there is such a thing as godly jealousy, and I believe there is, you are about to face it head-on. I cannot imagine reading this story without becoming extremely hungry for all that God has for us at any price. Some books are so captivating that you are sad when they end; that is how I felt on the last page of this book. This is one time I wished I had been reading a five-hundred-page book.
Read Voice in the Night to learn. Or read it to be inspired. Even read it to grow in faith. Just read it. This book is bound to leave a mark on your life.

I want to thank all those who have supported me on this journey of mine, some of whom I have mentioned and many I have notall my staff, all the wonderful pastors who have trusted and worked with me around the world and all those who have helped me on my way.
My thanks to Susan Partridge for all her involvement and input and for making this book happen. I honor her so much for that. Thanks to Liz Batha for her hard work in researching this book and to Geraldine Streather, who has helped in the proofreading process.
I also want to thank my friends Rolland and Heidi Baker. First to Rolland because you have been special to me indeed as we traveled together through the bush discussing the things of life. You have influenced my life hugely, and I have learned from and been inspired greatly by you. I want to thank God that as we stood together through your sickness, He healed you and now you are well. I thank God for that, and I am looking forward to working with you again as we help spread the Gospel through your life.
And to Heidi: Thank you, because I have learned about love through you. I have learned about love beyond discrimination, and I have learned courage and a life of giving. And I just want to thank you.
A Voice in the Night
S urprise!
The voice boomed in my ear, rousing me from a deep sleep. I blinked, trying to see who could be calling my name at this hour of the night, but it was pitch dark inside my familys hut. I could not see a thing.
I lay there for a moment, listening to the sound of my heart pounding in my chest. Had I been dreaming? It had seemed so real.
Surprise!
The voice was louder and more insistent than before. I sat up. Yes? Who are you? What do you want?
The voice was masculine, strong and deep. Get out of the house. If you do not leave, you will die.
