Even if you never woke up to who you are, you would still impact on all of us because of your presence in the cosmic dance of life. Yet you have more than just an inkling of who you are and why youre here. Dont you? This is what has drawn us together and aligns our hearts as we speak.

Many years ago, I was perhaps as you are now. At the age of 28 I was disillusioned with the direction my life was taking, and I was looking for my answers in earnest. I spent hours on my own, just diving into my thoughts and hoping Id receive some clarity on why my life had turned out the way it had. I felt alone, and yet I also sensed that this was where I was meant to be.

Not a day went by that I didnt look for a reason for my past actions and those of the people I loved. Id created a cycle of self-evaluation that felt necessary. I needed to go in deep if I was ever to rise above my questioning and receive my lightning-bolt moment. Can you relate to this?

Then, during this cycle of deep contemplation, I started to experience something quite strange during my sleeping hours.

Each night, Id wake between 2 and 3 a.m. and, although I was aware of my body in the bed, I was unable to will myself to move. The strangest sounds seemed to emanate from within my home, like knives slashing and bees buzzing. I could feel what seemed to be every atom in my body vibrating and heaviness on my chest as if something was trying to get into me. Yet, as I was about to discover, it was actually me who was trying to get out.

One night when my body wouldnt stop buzzing, I asked myself, Is this good for me? The energy subsided, but then, as I relaxed back into my bed, a vibration rose up my body until it reached my crown. I felt myself leave my body and travel through a roller-coaster-like tunnel of light and sound. It was the most magnificent cosmic trip, and I just knew I was about to find out something extremely important about the meaning of life.

Suddenly, I arrived in a still and quiet space. It was dark momentarily, and then the most sparkling colours and geometric shapes like stained glass began to form before me. I was dazzled by their brilliance; so much so that I snapped back into my body and slowly felt myself wake up.

My body felt so heavy in the bed, yet I was excited because I knew I had been somewhere that was soulful. I had been out of my body and yet I was still me. While I had been out soul travelling, Id had no concern for my body back in my bed: I was just looking to explore the cosmos and the answers and experiences that awaited me.

That moment changed my life forever. After it, I knew firsthand that the soul is eternal, that the soul is me, and that we never actually die. It was after many years of these out-of-body events that I had my true wake-up experience on New Years Eve 1999 and that led me to the spiritual path Im walking today. Indeed, its also your yearning and desire to know your souls path and cosmic roots that has brought us together. For my experiences and knowledge can help trigger yours.
