Minimalism (Minimalist Steps To Reducing Clutter in Life)
A re you tired of the clutter in your life? Maybe it is time for you to consider a minimalistic life. Minimalism isnt about not owning things, its all about getting rid of the unwanted ones. Your life becomes chaotic when you keep hoarding things that you dont really need. Minimalism is the first step in getting rid of such clutter.
This book will give you an insight into the basics of minimalism and how you can go about ensuring a minimalistic life. You will get a general idea on what minimalism is all about and what steps you need to take to ensure that you get rid of the clutter in your life.
Thank you for choosing this book!
M inimalism is all about removing the clutter and unnecessary items in your life. It allows you to get rid of the distractions so that you can focus on the important aspects of your life. A minimalist isnt just a person who owns less than 30 items or 50 items; it is more than a number. A minimalist is a person who can identify the unnecessary things in their life and remove them so that their life becomes much simpler. With this method, you will be able to appreciate the good items in your life. It is also effective in getting rid of stressful things. Keep only the things you love and remove the rest.
If you want to live a carefree life with lesser materialistic possessions and no attachments, then a minimalistic lifestyle is suited to you. However, that isnt the ideology behind minimalism. Essentially, in principle, minimalism is a tool that helps a person find freedom. This freedom can come in any form. It can be freedom from chaos or freedom from worry. It can even be the freedom from the consumer ideology that most of the world runs on. It will give you a taste of actual freedom.
Just because minimalism encourages you to get rid of material possessions, doesnt mean it is against material possessions. It just involves you giving up the things that arent significant to your life. In todays world it has become prevalent to assign more importance to materialistic possessions than the things that actually matter such as our health, relationships and ambitions.
If your ambition in life is to own a mansion then ensure that you work towards achieving it. Minimalism would not be against this. If you feel that buying a mansion is important to you, then according to minimalism you should buy one. However, you should realize that not everything you want is important to you. You should then proceed to weed out the ones that are not important to you. It allows you to be more conscious about the things you give importance to.
The beauty of minimalism is that each person can interpret it in different ways. While one person might interpret it as giving up his home and car in order to keep on to a handful of keepsakes and travelling the world, other person might interpret it as a way to get rid of unnecessary things in his life to make space for a relationship or family. Somebody else might even interpret it as a way to declutter their house. In the end, minimalism will allow you to live a life that is driven by some purpose or ambition.
Minimalists search for happiness through decluttering their life, both physically and mentally. Once you determine what is superfluous, you can get rid of it. It can either be an aspect of your life, a person or a physical item in your house.
The most common form of minimalism is to get rid of the physical items that are just taking up space in your house without adding any worth to your house or your life. Most of us live in a cluttered home. While some people like their home to be cluttered, there are others who wish that they could do something about the clutter but do not know where to start. Minimalism is the place to start.
In this book, you will get an idea of how to declutter your life as well as your house. Taking the first steps towards a minimalistic lifestyle isnt always easy because it is hard to change ones behavior. However, if you truly want a change in your life, you should take control and make the necessary changes.
By reading this book and choosing to reduce the clutter in your life, you have already taken the first step to a minimalistic life. How you use the concept of minimalism in order to incorporate happiness and freedom into your life is entirely up to you. There are no criteria as to how you need to incorporate minimalism into your life. Once you take the first step, it becomes easier to the next one and then the one after that and so on till you find yourself living a minimalistic life. Each person has their own method of decluttering. Some people tend to find it difficult to throw out their things initially but once they force themselves to throw out the unnecessary items, the subsequent ones become easier to discard. Tangentially, some other people rationalize their items and find it easier to throw out things right from the beginning. Most people start to have a sort of relapse after a few months because they tend to crave for their consumer lifestyle. However, if you persevere and hold onto your resolve, you can march through those times and emerge successful.
M inimalism has a lot of advantages. The physical and mental advantages of this tool are nearly endless. Here is a list of some of the ways in which minimalism can help you:
- Reclaim lost or wasted time.
- Pursue your goals and ambitions.
- Contribute towards a healthier lifestyle.
- Get rid of the dissatisfaction in our lives.
- Led a less stressful life.
- Experience absolute freedom.
- Discover the purpose of your life.
- Save a lot of money by not buying unnecessary things.
- Discover your mission in life.
- Get rid of all the excess baggage.
- Learn to live life to the fullest.
- Work more efficiently.
- Consume less but create more.
- Grow as an individual personality.
- Feel at peace because of the lack of clutter.
- Have more space at your house.
To sum it up, minimalism is a tool that allows you to get rid of the excess baggage in your life in order to focus on what is important in the path of finding freedom, happiness and fulfillment.
B efore we delve in the number of steps involved in decluttering your life, lets have a look at the principles based on which the foundation of minimalism was built. Here are the four key principles that help achieve a successful and decluttered life:
M ake a list of all the items in your life. For example, if you are planning to clear out a cupboard in your house, then take everything out of the cupboard. Then make a list of all the items that were in the cupboard.
N ow that you have a list of items, you can either physically separate them into groups or you can even do it on paper. Choose the ones that you need. Separate the ones you need from the ones you do not need. If you are unsure about a particular item, then put it in a pending pile.
T hrow the things from the unnecessary pile out. These are the things you do not need. You might find it hard to do this initially, but you need to grit your teeth and persevere. If you dont throw them out, you will never clear out your life.
