There are so many people who have contributed in some way to helping me write this book that I could not possibly name everyone. I will therefore do my best to hit the highlights, but know that if you have crossed my path in any meaningful way at some point in my life, I am grateful for the lessons you have taught me and the ways in which you have inspired me.

My family has been an integral part of my ability and determination to live my life from a place of authenticity, strength, and courage. I have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by some truly amazing, inspiring, strong women including my mother; Sandi, my sister; Lisa, my nieces; ORian and Anam, and my stepdaughter, Emily. I am also fortunate to have a father, Bill, who always told me I could do anything I set my mind to. My brother-in-law, Jimmy, and my son-in-law, Barrett, are not intimidated by strong women and, in fact, are dedicated to helping the women in their life fulfill their dreams. I am grateful to have you in my life.

To my stepson, Steven Corak, you enact your personal power with an amazing combination of compassion, patience, and strength. I appreciate your contribution of the amazing recipes featured in so very much. You are quite talented and the food you made for Persephones feast aligned with my intent perfectly (not to mention that it was some of the best food I have ever eaten!)

I am thankful for my longtime friends, Jackie and Stephanie, who have been my cheerleaders in addition to being there for me whenever I needed to bounce ideas off of them or simply share my insecurities as an author. Benjamin, I thank you for believing in me and seeing the potential that existed in me long before I believed in or saw these things in myself. You encouraged me to shine and taught me that while the mountain may sometimes look like cardboard, it is truly built on a foundation of solid rock.

Persephone is not one of the Olympians in the Greek pantheon yet her myth is familiar to many and is often taught as part of school curriculums. Known as Proserpina in Rome, Persephone was worshipped in two ways, almost as if she had a split personality. The first aspect of Persephone was the Kore; the beautiful young and innocent maiden who was associated with spring. Kore means girl or maiden in Greek and there are innumerable statues and sculptures of Kore throughout Greece. As her story progresses, she becomes the Queen of the Underworld, a mature goddess who reigns over the dead and guides the living who visit the Underworld.
