The Tools to Build Your Success
A man's life is what his thoughts make of it.
Marcus Aurelius
Information is power. Knowing what you want and understanding the marketplace and what it needs is powerful. What are the directions available to you as you pursue your creativity in the workplace? Which will you choose and why? There are many tools and techniques to put into play to create a successful career. You have to know what you want and what success means to you. The tools in this book will guide you to this discovery and, from that place of knowing, will empower your creativity and lead you to create a career plan to build your success.
Throughout your career you will be called upon to reassess and change direction. It is never too early or too late and you are never too young or too old to adapt, become more knowledgeable, and refine what you want and what you do. You will clarify, reenergize and flesh out new directions and new ideas. This book will help you do that.
You'll start by discovering what a successful career means to you and what it might look like. Then, you will make a deal with yourself and with reality, choose a direction, and take action. Like a jigsaw puzzle, you'll piece together what you want to do and what is on trend, then prioritize and focus your goals. In today's world, how do you focus your goals to be a successful artist, to be creative? How do you start? You start with cultivating a heartfelt approach. You start with yourself.
GET IN TOUCH
Get in touch with your passion and feelings for your work and let that encourage you and lead you forward. Then, allow your knowledge of the field, your flexibility, and your ability to change course and adapt be your guides along the way.
To be successful, you need to learn to build a bridge between your creative mind and your business mind. It is a matter of cultivating the ability to think and plan for yourself, and then expanding your reach to the community at large through your creative experimentation. As you hone your instincts, you learn practical business approaches, while staying in touch with what you want to share and with whom you want to share it.
You need dedication, you need to know yourself really well, and you need to learn about business. Start by nurturing your creativity and your inventiveness, exploring and developing a strong sense of identity, and creating a clear direction of purpose and meaning. Create a life plan. Create a business plan. Visualize and meditate. Keep a journal. Draw things out. Find the direction you want to go, and make a plan that you are willing to follow to take you there. That's what you will learn to do from reading and doing the exercises in this book. And through the tools and techniques we will explore together, you will find the courage to dream big and empower yourself so that you can realize your potential in the world.
