Autobiographies? Plural?

Yes.

You see, this is not the autobiography of the person who is telling these stories. This little book is the autobiography of the Soul that resides within the body that writes these words. And its story is many, many autobiographies rolled into one.

It is also your story as this book is your invitation to undertake your own past life explorations to see how lives you may have lived before may be shaping the circumstances, opportunities and challenges you face today.

I mention this because I doubt that the chronicle of my current incarnation would hold your attention for very long. I am not famous. I am not a captain of industry, a famous artist, or internationally renowned humanitarian. Nor am I infamous: I have never been caught committing some great crime that captured the worlds attention.

And, likely given the law of averages you are more or less an ordinary person too. Unique. Special. But by the worlds standards more or less invisible other than to your family, co-workers, neighbors and social acquaintances.

That is not to say that you, like me, have not had some successes and not committed some crimes. But, from the worlds perspective, I am just an ordinary, somewhat elderly man living in the suburbs - married to the same woman approaching 50 years now with children and grandchildren. Professionally, I have enjoyed moderate success as an advertising writer. But the products I wrote commercials for are far more famous than I will ever be.

For the past 20 years or so, I have pursued a second career as a hypnotist. I have been privileged to help thousands of people quit smoking, lose weight, build careers, handle health issues, and overcome barriers to happiness and full self-expression.

Hopefully, there are more adventures, triumphs, and challenges yet to come for me. But I know my current incarnation is nearing its inevitable end. Not that I am complaining. It has been a good life as lives go. I am at peace with it and with myself. But my life story is not the stuff that would warrant an autobiography worth reading by anyone even at a low e-book price.

My Soul, on the other hand, has had quite a few interesting experiences. It is these that I will relate to you in the hope that its autobiographies may inspire you to think of your life from a different perspective. Perhaps you will even be inspired to engage in your own past life explorations.

So your invitation is to read this little book from the perspective of what your autobiographies might sound like and how you might integrate your past life experiences into your current incarnation.

The question of who I am will hopefully become unimportant as you read these pages. But you may find that the question of who you are will take on new depth. Remember the caterpillar in Lewis Carrolls Alice in Wonderland? When he asked Alice who are you?, he was asking her to do more than recite her resume. He was asking Alice to describe her essence. Who was she from the broadest possible perspective? And I would suggest that the broadest perspective of my life or yours is that of a soul having a physical experience. These experiences usually occur one at a time, as far as we are aware. But the veil between our lives is thin, and with a little intention and guidance, it can be breached. We can then live from a higher point of view: that of a Soul observing and learning from its experiences incarnated as a human being. As you listen to my Souls stories, I will be subtly asking you whether your spirit your essence has been here before and perhaps will be again in a different form. You will be asked to consider the possibility that your choices and mine are part of a broader plan: not simply for your individual souls personal growth but also for the evolution of our species.

Who am I to write such a book? After all, I have admitted already to being an ordinary person. I see myself as a reflection of the roles I play in this life: husband, father, grandfather, mentor, coach, active member in the recovery community, spiritual seeker (and I am happy to say, spiritual finder), generally a positive force in my world and part of humanitys evolution. I am an ordinary person, yet one who is aware of being part of something much bigger.

Past-life exploration has been a major part of my journey. This book suggests the same is possible for you. All it takes is willingness, an open mind, and the investment of some time and energy hopefully assisted by the right guide for you in your spiritual journey. You can consider this book your invitation to join me in this evolutionary journey. I should point out that you are not going to be reading here the exploits of someone who thinks he was Julius Caesar, Plato, Adolph Hitler, Shakespeare, Joan of Arc, or Jesus Christ for that matter. You need to know that even in my prior lives I was never especially famous or infamous either. Not a great king, well-known performer, artist of special note, or even world-class villain. My Soul (like most souls) seems to choose lives of obscurity. Humble people. Anonymous to the world stage. Everyday working men and women. Yet each of them had a beauty and importance that I feel called upon to share with you. And, I believe, each is as important and valuable as the life of any king, queen, emperor, or legendary historical figure. If this little work inspires you to journey into your own Souls biographies, you will likely find the same. There is usually only one king or queen, a handful of nobles, and then the rest of us.

So, you know a little about me now. But how about you? Why should you spend your valuable time with me and my stories?
