THE MESSAGE

O VER ONE HUNDRED YEARS ago God raised up the Student Volunteer Movement for Foreign Missions out of North America and Europe that touched the ends of the earth with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Student Volunteer Movement mobilized twenty thousand students and young adults in less than fifty years (1886ca. 1930) to preach the gospel in foreign lands. In 1910 twelve hundred of these missionary leaders gathered together in Scotland for the World Missionary Conference as they set their hearts together to evangelize the world in one generation.

Now, one hundred years later, it is our conviction that the Lord is again raising up a young adult movement committed to unrelenting prayer and aggressive missions so that the Lamb who was slain may receive the reward of His suffering. In this Antioch hour of human history, we believe that the body of Christ is entering into a new season of convergence as the Lord brings together three movementsthe missions, prayer, and church-planting movementsto finish the task of world evangelization and to pray back the King (Matt. 24:14; Luke 18:78; Rev. 22:17). God is bringing together the strength of these three movements so that the sum becomes greater than the parts.

In 1982 I believe the Lord spoke to me of this coming convergence while I was in Cairo, Egypt. He said that He would change the expression and understanding of Christianity in this generation. I believe that at the heart of this convergence is night-and-day prayer for justice that emerges from thousands of Great Commission prayer watches operating in the spirit of the tabernacle of David. These prayer watches will be dynamically connected to finishing the task of world evangelization and the blessed hope of Christs return. Undoubtedly, they will operate in the same spiritual culture and devotion that marked the tabernacle of David and the culture of prayer and missions that was in the church of Antioch in Acts 13:13.

The catalyst for this convergence will be spiritual fathers and mothers calling forth a global young adult movement that will plant hundreds of thousands of prayer watches even in the hardest and darkest places of the earth (Isa. 24:16; Lam. 2:19). These spiritual fathers and mothers will declare this convergence to young people throughout the nations, proclaiming to them that it is not just doable and not only biblical, but it is also essential to fulfilling the destiny of this generation.

I know of no spiritual father on the earth who has been more consistent and bolder than Dick Eastman in calling forth these prayer watches in the spirit of the tabernacle of David that are connected to the Great Commission. When I was just in my early twenties, new to my devotion and faith in Jesus, Dick greatly impacted me (and my friend Lou Engle) in my life of prayer and obedience to Jesus. The Lord used Dick to impart this spiritual DNA of a culture of prayer inside of me. And he hasnt stopped casting his golden seed of prayer and evangelism into the hearts and minds of thousands around the world over many years.

For those unfamiliar with Dick Eastman and the ministry he leads, Every Home for Christ (EHC), Dick is a most remarkable man of God, and his ministry has had unimaginable impact in the nations. Since 1946, Every Home for Christ has had evangelistic initiatives in 205 nations with more than 75 million decisions for Christ. These new converts have been discipled in 150,000 Christ Groups (house churches) that have been started by EHC with over 80 million discipleship courses taken by these precious saints. In their sixty-four-year history, they have given out 2.8 billion gospel booklets and are currently averaging 35,000 decisions for Jesus Christ every single day. Over the past five years, they have received reports of approximately 40 million decisions for Christ with an estimated 12 million in 2009 alone. On average, they are sharing the gospel with 900,000 individuals in 180,000 homes every single day. In addition to this incredible evangelistic thrust, they have started thousands upon thousands of Walls of Prayer (mostly in Asia), with many more thousands being started every single year.

I believe that the fruit of this ministry is directly connected to Dicks heart for prayer and the nations. The same spirit that gripped King David as a young man to contend for the fullness of God in his generation (Ps. 132; Acts 13:36) has obviously gripped Dick Eastman since he was a young man. Psalm 132 tells us that David made a vow in his youth to not rest until God possessed His inheritance on Earth. The result of his commitment to the Lord resulted in a great movement of prayer and worship in his generation that served as the foreshadowing of the End Time prayer and missions movement that God is raising up across the earth today.
