Introduction
Clutter is part of everyday life, but this does not mean that you shouldnt do anything about it. To some, its normal that there are bed sheets on the floor, kitchen cupboards that are yet to be cleaned, and closets that are left in disarray. But no matter how true this is, clutter can still be annoying, disabling, and maddening.
Imagine yourself coming home from a long days work expecting to see your room clean and your bed inviting. However, to your dismay, upon opening your rooms door, you saw your son playing with his toys scattered all over the floor and your daughter playing with her dolls on your bed. What do you think would you do? More often than not, there is this tendency to get angry at them for causing a mess. You can lose your self-control and shout at them or you can hit your head against the wall while telling yourself that you do not want to live anymore.
It sounds hilarious, right? But it is true. Start cleaning your house today and set yourself free from stress!
Chapter 1
De-cluttering Can Totally Change Your House and Life
Theres a song that goes, Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end. This line can tell you much about life how one thing can lead to another and how an ending can become one's fresh start. How lovely that this song actually imbibes positivity. Just like how the last cold days of winter give way to the first few hopeful days of spring. This optimism is carried on when you de-clutter your house. If you are going to put an end to all the mess that you have at home or in your workplace, then definitely, something beautiful is surely going to happen.
In order for you to be happy and to be stress-free, you have to free yourself first from things that worry you, things that make your life so miserable and things that keep your mind from achieving that inner peace that you so long for. Fortunately, there is one effective way of doing this, and that is de-cluttering your house and your life.
Clutter can ruin your mood, your disposition and your momentum. There are times when you do not want to work anymore because a lot of papers are scattered over your desk. There are times when you do not want to eat anymore because the mere sight of your disastrous kitchen already makes you lose your appetite. And these things spell out one thing, and that is S-T-R-E-S-S!
The burden of de-cluttering your house can really get into you and it could break you down. Hence, it is but important to make time to organize your little space. Remember that your home should be your sanctuary and refuge, and a dirty one could just turn it into the opposite. You do not want to search for your missing money or keys for an hour and you surely do not want to misplace your water, electricity and phone bills! De-cluttering is not just the act of throwing all those unnecessary things out of the window. It is actually minimizing the use of household items that can give you the impression of an unkempt house (for example, too many vases, too large tables, and too bulky sofas) and maximizing every inch of your space.
There are many ways by which you can de-clutter your house, aside from just stacking things up in the storage room or just tossing them into a big box before burning them. But before going ahead with your de-cluttering project, there is still one thing that you have to do, and that is to identify the part of the house that you want to de-clutter first. Is your study teeming with books covered with dust? Has your bedroom been cleaned since last month? Is the bathroom floor now covered with mold? While it is true that you want to clean every inch of your house, it is, however, impossible to clean them all at the same time. You have to choose one that you think needs cleaning the most.
In de-cluttering your house, you have to remember that you are not only doing your house and your family a favor, but yourself, too.
Chapter 2
De-cluttering Your Living Room
The living room could be the busiest part of the house because this is where your family members gather together to share stories, laugh and watch movies late at night, and its also where you entertain your visitors. A comfortable and clean living room is what you just need to make your family and visitors happy. This makes your living room a very important part of the house and keeping it clean should not just be a chore or an obligation. It should be a habit.
You do not have to call for house cleaning companies just to keep your living room and everything in it squeaky clean. Here are some things that you can do to de-clutter your own living room:
Protect your furniture. Your sofas and couches are the main elements of your living room and you cannot miss cleaning and maintaining them. Your furniture can either be made of leather, upholstery, wood and other types of materials, and these call for different methods of cleaning each type. Upholstered ones are best cleaned with your vacuum since wiping them off either with a dry or wet rag would not help much. Leather seats are best wiped off with dry towels, unless of course, something was spilled on it, like milk or juice. Wooden furniture is best cleaned with a rag soaked in a pail of water-and-soap solution or wood cleaner.
