I dedicate this book to my beloved mother, Pauline WhiteA woman of worship and unwavering faith, a woman of the glory.

    A CKNOWLEDGEMENTS

I thank my heavenly Father for His unfailing love, faithfulness, and kindness and for His precious Son and Holy Spiritmy greatest teachers.

I thank my beloved wife, Caroline, and my sons, Josiah and Jacob, and my dear mother and sister, Pauline and Joannaall such treasured gifts of God who have always been a strength and inspiration to me.

I am also deeply grateful to all of the key individuals in churches and in media who have supported me in fulfilling the call of God on my life, especially David Armstrong who mentored me in my early years of training for ministry.

I thank my Iraqi people who have always fixed their eyes on Jesus and shared in the living reality of the glory zone in the war zone. I am ever grateful to each one of them, young and old, for showing me what real faith and unity look like. We have walked together on mountaintops and through valleys.

I thank the many churches, leaders, friends, and supporters from all over the world who have enabled me to provide both spiritually and practically for my people and who have stood with the persecuted church in relentless prayer, compassion, and sincerity.

I also express my sincere gratitude to my team in the UK and the Middle East who continue to strengthen and encourage me in all of my work, particularly in supporting my Iraqi Christian Community now residing in Jordan. Amongst them, my deepest thanks must go to my Middle East director, Fr. Carlos Khalil Jaar, and my chairman of trustees, Mr. Martyn Keates and those who have travelled with me and supported me nationally and internationally in this recent season, Rachael, Jake, Esther, Jesse, Callum, and Dan.

I am deeply grateful to Larry Sparks for taking time out of his busy schedule to meet me in London, to Bill Williams for his friendship and encouragement, to Owen Rowlands for his artistic insights, and, last but not least, to all of the Destiny Image team who have worked faithfully and skillfully in enabling this work to be published for such a time as this.

To God be all the glory!

The Reverend Canon, Dr. A NDREW W HITE

    Foreword

I T HAS BEEN MY GREAT PRIVILEGE TO BE ABLE TO CALL THE Vicar of Baghdad, Canon Andrew White, a close, dear friend. Over the years, I would often find him in the middle of some major world crisis where I would witness the supernatural grace God has given to this servant and ambassador of peace. I recall getting a phone call late one night in 2002. It was Andrew calling from the West Bank where he was the chief negotiator for the Archbishop of Canterbury during the siege of the Church of the Nativity. I answered my phone to hear Andrews voice, Mahesh, we are at an impasse. Do you have a word from the Lord?

Despite struggling with MS for years, Canon Andrew White has been at the center of great events in the Middle East, carrying an apostolic voice of counsel and shalom into some of the darkest situations. Whether negotiating an international crisis or setting up humanitarian aid in a besieged city, Andrew is tuned into the voice of the Lord and a carrier of miracle glory in impossible situations.

I have seen few who walk with such a zeal for God and His people under such dangerous conditions. During the peak of the Iraq war, Canon Andrew White served as rector of St. Georges Church, the only Anglican Church in Baghdad. His congregants were some of the last Christians left in the city. In the middle of that war zone, Canon Andrew White was able to offer love and mercy by setting up a free medical clinic for people of all faiths, Muslims and Christians. We were honored to help support and sustain this work.

During that time, Andrew was speaking at a Glory Conference we hosted at our church in Charlotte, North Carolina. The voice of the Lord instructed me to put a large amount of cash into Andrews coat pocket as I gave him a farewell hug. It was thousands of dollars in cash. Andrew flew directly from our meeting to Baghdad where he was captured by violent kidnappers. Locked in a dark cell, dread and fear creeping upon him, Andrew remembered that the large cash gift we had given him was still in his money belt. Miraculously, Andrew was able to us this gift to ransom himself out of the clutches of that violent terrorist gang.

This book, The Glory Zone in the War Zone, is loaded with amazing stories like this that will help take the limits off your faith. From the life of one of the great missionaries in our era, a man I call a true ambassador of glory, may your eyes be opened to recognize Gods presence in every situation.

May a new chapter of signs and wonders be released in your own life as you read this powerful book.
