CANCER: 50 ESSENTIAL THINGS TO DO
GREG ANDERSON is the founder of the Cancer Recovery Foundation International group of charities, a global affiliation of national organizations whose mission is to help all people prevent and survive cancer.
Cancer Recovery Foundation focuses its work on developing and teaching integrated cancer care programs. The organization is a leading proponent of less-toxic and least-invasive cancer prevention and treatment research.
Greg Anderson was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer in 1984. His surgeon gave him just thirty days to live. Refusing to accept the hopelessness of this prognosis, he went searching for people who had lived even though their doctors told them they were terminal.
His findings from interviews with over 16,000 cancer survivors form the strategies and action points for what has become an international cancer recovery movement. Today, Anderson is widely recognized as one of the worlds leading wellness authorities. He is the author of thirteen books, including the inspirational classic The Cancer Conqueror.

F OREWORD
In 1984, the same day my surgeon told me, The tiger is out of the cage. Your lung cancer has come roaring back. Id give you about thirty days to live, I turned to the work of O. Carl Simonton, M.D. Over the ensuing years, Carl became my teacher, mentor, colleague, and friend. His guidance literally saved my life.
In 2009, we both gave presentations at a conference in Heidelberg, Germany. At the end of my talk I presented Carl with Cancer Recovery Foundations Lifetime Achievement Award. Every person in that huge auditorium rose and gave this giant of a man the longest, most thunderous standing ovation I have ever witnessed. The award and the audience response moved Carl to tears.
It was the last time I would see him alive. Carl died just a month later at his home in Malibu, California. He wrote the first foreword to this book. I now repeat it because it means so much to me.
From the Desk of O. Carl Simonton, M.D.
For over thirty-five years, I have been working with an approach to cancer that includes the physical, mental, and spiritual. I have treated thousands of patients with a relatively high rate of recovery, even from so-called terminal illness. I have learned a great deal about healing, and I have met some remarkable patients. Greg Anderson is one of them.
This book, Cancer: 50 Essential Things to Do, is a testimony to patients taking charge and choosing a stance of hope toward a diagnosis of cancer. Many of you who read this book are undoubtedly in a very difficult situation. Do not despair. Keep your hope alive. Learn from the experience of someone who was given a thirty-days-to-live prognosis. The author has been there. He knows what its like to deal with the despair of cancer. He also knows what its like to get well again.
While the road ahead may be difficult, I want you to know that it can be the most rewarding journey you will ever take. Even though the path through cancer requires work and discipline, it is also filled with discoveries that will excite and inspire you. Keep your focus on those joys.
