Preface
Since the 1980s I have been a Rebirther by profession. I was trained by Leonard Orr in his now famous method for clearing emotional blockages and recovering the memory of ones birth, of ones pre-natal experiences, and beyond. I had been successfully conducting workshops in Rebirthing for many years, but in the late 1980s I became dissatisfied with my life as a Rebirther and the kind of service I was performing. Why were people coming to my workshops? Basically to solve their personal problems or to advance their careers; in short, to learn how to enhance their material well-being. Even when they were concerned with what they called their relationships, their perspective on what this might mean was usually painfully materialistic and narrow. People did think about their self-esteem, but what they meant was the state of their egos. Their highest aspirations were for a comfortable and pleasurable existence without irritating conflicts or anxieties; very few people felt concern for the welfare of others, or for what was really happening on the planet ecologically, or in the cosmos spiritually. The idealism of the 60s was dead and long-gone; methods for self-improvement were becoming more abundant and popular, and I was becoming quite tired of it. There was something terribly wrong with the way our culture was looking at life, and with the way I was coping with our culture. My own practice as a Rebirther had developed in a way that was personally very satisfying, but just that seemed to be the problem. There had to be more to existence than personal satisfaction. A piece of the puzzle was definitely missing.
All that changed dramatically early in the 90s when I discovered a whole new world of information that provided a fresh perspective on what was happening not only in our society but on the Earth in general and, truly, in the universe as a whole. Suddenly it all made sense again, and made sense in a wonderful new way.
One of the things that began to bring things together for me was my contact with Drunvalo Melchizedek, and I have been presenting ideas and teaching workshops in the practices that have come to us through him since that time. I must say that I continue to believe that these teachings are among the researches and insights being presented on Earth today that represent the greatest hope for the future of the planet.
Introduction
We are living at a time that is not only unique in human historyit is unique in the history of the entire universeas far as anyone knows. We are accelerating in our evolution at such a rate that we have drawn the attention of beings from every part of the cosmos, because what happens to us will affect all life everywhere. And no one knows for sure what will happen to us.
The changes that are taking place are obvious to everyone even on our ordinary dimensional level. Technology is developing so rapidly that the scientists themselves cannot keep up with it. Knowledge in the form of new data about the universe is accumulating so fast from our radio telescopes and satellites and space probes that even NASA is already years behind in assimilating and integrating and interpreting it. At the same time because of ultra high-speed computers, theoreticians are able to generate theories at a rate so fast that there is no time or possibility of inventing experiments to test them!
Is this for the good or are we heading for disaster? Is there a pre-scripted scenario for our fate that has determined how it will all turn out? Or is it somehow up to us, or up to chance?
We know that our entire planet is being threatened by developments on what seems to be every level. The population continues to grow at a rate that makes it certain that very soon the Earth will not be able to sustain. Scientists in the European community are already predicting that within ten years there will not be enough fresh water for the population to drink. The efforts of countries like China to ensure that it will be able to feed its people are in themselves threatening the environment. Throughout the world, efforts to expand industrially so that underdeveloped peoples will be able to participate in the global economy are at the same time destroying local agriculture, causing vast disruption in local ways of life, and virtually enslaving local populations.
The world has become one world through electronic communications and ever more convenient jet transport, but the process itself is threatening the very existence of life on Earth.
At the same time predictions about enormous improvements in our life are almost as common as reasons for apprehensions of disaster. The genetic code has been deciphered and the entire genetic content of the human species, the human genome, is all but completely understood. This, we are told, will bring enormous possibilities for curing and preventing cancer and other diseases. Advances in solar energy and other ways of tapping into the limitless supply of energy in the cosmos are just around the corner. The process of aging itself is close to being understood. We are told that within a decade human life expectancy may be a hundred and twenty years and that by the end of this century we will be virtually immortal. Yet for every advance there is a corresponding danger: the exploitation of bioengineering and biotechnology by selfish economic interests threatens to destroy our ability to sustain life in a natural way. Material technology seems to diminish our spiritual prowess. Every task that we teach machines to perform becomes a task we can no longer perform ourselves, throwing skilled workers out of work and turning time-honored skills into holdovers and relics.
At the same time changes in the condition of the Earth itself and in the solar system seem to be threatening life on Earth. Geologists know that both the axis of the Earth and the magnetic poles are due for a shift at any time. An enormous solar explosion on the sun in 1972 in fact would have destroyed all life on Earth if it had not been for the concern and intervention of the Siriansbeings from another stellar world who are intimately connected with our fate.
These historical and natural changes are just the external aspects of changes that are occurring in our very make-up as conscious beings. We are in the process of an accelerated spiritual evolution that is unprecedented in the known universe. Ancient prophecies and astrological theory together agree that we are living at a moment of great transition and change, but the rate of change that is occurring is something that has never been known before and was not anticipated by our most prescient sages.
